Good deal for a 250. Was after a bigger unit… but this deal makes the bigger ones look expensive. lol hmmm… noticed they have a 2TB version… yum yum

My wallet lacks emotion, as for myself….

  • Bought 1, thanks OP!

  • Purchased. Final price with postage to 3000 was AUD 118.91

Wow great price. I thought I had a deal when I got mine for 130.

  • What price are they in Aus stores?

  • Are these just as good as the intel ones?

    • They're both very reliable. Intel have a few different models. Which one are you comparing this Samsung to?

      • I was considering getting an intel 530 one of the same size but went with this one

The price for this comes up as $75 USD ($74.99) for me. (Not sure if it's because I'm currently in the US?)

Edit: If so, it might be worth logging into a US VPN for an additional $5 USD off!

Showing up as $74.99 USD for me also. I'm located in Australia but my work computer has it's VPN route through the US.

Price quoted in the title includes $5.53 USD delivery to Aus (which is very reasonable)

    Does the warranty work here?

  • Thanks bought 1

  • I literally bought one off ebay in the morning for around $130 or so ($145 less a 10% off coupon I had).

Bit annoyed I didn't just wait a few hours, especially coz I was sitting on that purchase for a few days already

    • Then ask him to cancel the order. He can't have posted it out already.

      • They marked it as posted within about one hour of ordering.

        • Well you know that's not likely, but yeah ebay aren't flexible with refunds after being marked as posted.

    • Soooo… this is a great deal.

I think I'm after a mix of storage/performance - was eyeing off the 3TB Seagate 7200rpm around the $130 mark last I checked.

  • is there much benefit to running raid 0 on these?

    • +3

Sure, you get 1GB read/writes! Samsung have other SSD`s which are designed for RAID but they're more expensive as they're enterprise grade. As always, make sure you have a daily backup plan in case the RAID breaks. You can rebuild it using software to recover the data but backups give peace of mind.

      • Seriously, 1GB?! wow…lol I am impressed. Could run a few of my virtual machines off that!

Just because you seem to know about it, may I ask, I currently own one of these, getting this one and I want to RAID(whatever number it is) so I can double my SSD storage space…to have the 2 drives act as one, is there any way around having to re-install my OS and all my beautiful programs on my current SSD?

        • +1

Firstly, I'd take a full backup image of your current drive. Once the backup is done and your new drive is connected, you will need to enter the RAID settings through your motherboard BIOS. You can configure the second drive in a RAID0 for speed. If configuring the RAID affects your existing Windows installation, you can always restore your backup image to the new RAID setup.

Looking for a 500 gb… But this is tempting. Great post, thanks OP

    • I'm trying to get sell mine (brand new, 500gb) that I bought from Amazon last time it was on sale, as I've got a gaming laptop now and no need for it. $220 and can post anywhere in AUS (I'm in Surry Hills, Sydney)

    • If you can find a friend whose address you can ship it to/account you can use (limit 1 per customer), getting 2 and putting them in RAID will be cheaper than any 500GB deal I've seen. I'm getting this one to put it in RAID with my current 250 EVO.

    Thanks OP !

I want this but I dont need this. Oh the conundrum of Ozbargain!

    • Is it 500GB+?

      • Yea, I think so

  • Damn, that 1TB is looking mighty tempting - anyone know a lower price, still from a reputable dealer?

  • If anyone wants the 500gb version, brand new, sealed and local, I'm trying to get sell mine that I bought from Amazon last time it was on sale, as I've got a gaming laptop now and no need for it. $220 and can post anywhere in AUS (I'm in Surry Hills, Sydney)

    • Isn't this against forum rules?

    • Have you sold it yet? If not can you PM me the details? Cheers

    • Only certain sellers sell to specific countries. Have you tried book depositary?

  • 500Gb only $159 now

    • Are there any local deals on at the moment?
