Some friends went to this last year and ended up being pretty expensive as you have to buy admission tickets and buy credits called "crowns" to get your food.

Works out best if you are planning on going to this with friends, as it will save you some entry fees to then spend on filling your belly.

  • Yeah i went last year and it was pretty expensive! But that being said, its an experience worth going once for if you want to see what a lot of high end restaurants are offering!

The portion sizes were relatively small (i think for the cost of $5-$8?) and it was a hit and miss with a lot of the foods.

  • I went last year and bought tickets for this years event. There's also an earlybird promo at the moment if you're a member of ticketek same as above. Food is of a decent price, I think I paid about $10 for a vanilla panna cotta from Jonah's at whale beach which they also sell at the store for a good $17. It was absolutely delicious!

    • yeah i think the panna cotta was the best thing that was there. Some of the rest was a bit iffy =S I think i had some wagyu burger and tbh it wasnt that great

  • Hey i was about to post this!

So i ordered it online and it ended up being 10 dollars more cause of all these stupid fees.

I simply can't wait to go!

One thing i find a bit stupid is the advance purchase of the crowns (vouchers to buy the samples)

Also what chef celebs do we meet lol?

    • i didnt meet anyone! But then again maybe theyll have the masterchef or My kitchen rules guys on! Btw u can purchase crowns when u get there

  • So do you get any crowns with your admission ticket?

    • No - you need to buy crowns separately. U can get them there on the day.

      Quote from tastefestival.com.au

Crowns are the currency used at Taste of Sydney to purchase dishes and drinks from the restaurants and producers. Crowns may also be used to purchase food and drink from the exhibiting producers at the event. The restaurants only accept Crowns as payment and a limited number of exhibitors accept cash. 1 Crown = $1. Crowns can be purchased at the event as well from Crown banks and roving Crown sellers.

Sample size signature dishes from the restaurants will be priced at 8, 10, and 12 Crowns each. Drinks will be available at bar prices.

  • I thought u only pay the entry fee and u can eat anything. Like all u can eat!

    • no, thats definately not how it works (i wish) lol
entry fee + $$ for food … which is NOT cheap! (high class restaurants)

similar to the SIFF food fair at the end of october - with an entry fee.
