Worst eBay Sale Ever?

Ok, maybe a slight exaggeration but I remember previous deals where the front page lit up with great deals for ages.
You would normally think that EBay's 20% off would trigger a similar response - but not this time.
So, was it the choice of retailer, the amount, or price-gouging by the selected Ebay stores - or maybe something else?
Any thoughts on why this one seems a bit of a flop?
I was waiting for something like this but it seems like the choice of participating shops simply don't have the items I was interested in.

    nope its a bad sale the stuff I want is over priced from a UK store and not worth the discount nothing else I want and I need a lot of things

    It's not tech/gaming, so not as many deals being posted as the bargains are probably a bit more niche.
    I still think it's a good deal if you need anything from the stores involved

    Gave up after checking two stores. Raising up prices before a sale, isn't that false advertising, or corporate deception? Oh I know, a waste of time. Might as well buy from overseas. It's cheaper and more respectful often.
    Hope ebay has 10% sitewide or whatever soon, my cart awaits.

    Depending on what you're searching for - if you happen to be looking for health and beauty in the way of cosmetics and fragrances, wowee there's a lot of good deals to be had!

    It's allowed me to find the cheapest price on a couple of toys for the niece and nephew for Xmas. So I was happy. Or if no cheapest price the 20% off gave me postage free so I don't have to go to the shops (which I hate this time of year).

    Edit: I semi take that back. Target cancelled my purchase as it was out of stock. Yet they're still selling it on their website for the same price

    well yesterday there was all this 20% off storewide, today it's gone, and only certain listed stores. All the 20% off fragrances are gone unless you buy them from the 2 stores on the list.

      It was never 20% off storewide, it was select stores from the very beginning…

        And its not even storewide amongst the participating stores - it is only Ebay storewide for the participating stores. It is pretty clear that the Ebay stores of many of the participating merchants differ in range and price from their actual stores.
        Another reason I have declared it the worst Ebay sale ever.

          Why would eBay have a store wide sale at their merchant's b&m stores?

    Both this sale and the target one a few weeks back have been terrible. They have 20% off, but only list a few items, eg fallout 4 on Xbox one can be had for $51 if you were one of the Eighty-eight people who managed to buy it in the three hours before it sold out. Same with controllers and other accessories.

      That's what happens when stores don't jack up the prices. Ppl get legitimate bargains and items get sold out super quick!
      Stores jack up their price because ppl would still buy them. After the discount is applied the price is usually (but not always) cheaper. Some ppl (non-ozbargainers) will also assume what they get is a bargain because of a discount code. They would buy that monster HDMI cable on 'sale' for $50!

      But I agree that this sale isn't that good, as Master/ SCA didn't list all their products on Ebay.
