Telltale's Walking Dead

I know I'm pretty late to the party with this one, but has anyone else played it? I just finished Season 2 last night, and I feel like I need to debrief with someone. Haha

Comments

  • Yeah I finished it in February, but would be glad to debrief with what I remember.

    • Do you remember which ending you ended up with?

      • There's no way to post on here with a spoiler tag, is there? Well, here we go…

        Spoilers

In the end, I chose to kill Kenny. I think it was the right thing to do. So many different endings. What did you end up with?

        • More Spoilers

Same. Then when it turned out that the baby was still alive, I couldn't think of what do do/say, and the timer ran down. Ended up going back to Howe's with Jane. Then when the family turned up at the gates, I turned them away.

        • @zim4: Most people dislike the ending of season 2. That's because most people don't get the ending where you don't shoot Kenny and he takes you to that…. place with a W that I forget that you've been trying to get to the whole time. Mostly because it's most touching, and obviously the ending they gave the most attention to.

But then 90% of people got the Howes ending because OH HECK A SHOOT BUTTON CAME UP, BLAM!!!

        • @FrankMcFuzz:
Haha, I get that. I shot Kenny because I felt I needed to do something. If it was Jane overpowering Kenny, I think I would have shot Jane.

I agree, the ending at Wellington is the fairy tale ending, where Clem should have ended up if it was a Hollywood movie. But my Clem didn't. I felt that the way the story developed for me, I had already decided that Wellington didn't exist. I had stopped believing in Kenny, and felt doomed to a life of hardship and struggling for survival. And thats exactly what happened in the end.

So while I was disappointed I didn't get the happy ending, I felt the ending I did get was the right one for the journey the game took me on.

        • @zim4: Ah yes, now I remember the family that came to the gates. I ended up accepting those guys, I'm pretty sure. It was a tough decision, given how many times my trust was betrayed, but I guess I'm a softy.

All your other thoughts are pretty much the same as mine, about how the story developed for you. But that Wellington didn't even exist? That's an interesting one.

Frank, I looked at the other endings on YouTube afterwards, and yeah I see what you're saying, but I am still happy with the way it ended for me. A shoot button came up and I have stayed my hand in the past, but this time I remembered feeling that it had to happen. I respected Kenny and knew that he was aware of his descent into madness and (I think?) he got a chance to say that it was the right thing to do, to kill him. At least, that's what my memory tells me. I liked Season Two almost as much as Season One, in the end.

The endings are so different, that I wonder if Season Three will start very differently for people, or just months down the track when Clementine's moved on somehow. I played the first two seasons on Xbox 360, which I don't own anymore, having moved to PC, so I'm not sure if it will ask for progress.

  • During the end of season 1 someone was standing right next to me cutting up onions. Such a great ending. Season 2 didnt really do it for me, i didnt really like the characters and relationships especially compared to season 1. Also kenny was a very frustrating character to deal with. Good games overall.

    • Agreed, the Season 1 ending was great. A real tear jerker. From a story point, I think Season 1 is better.

But Season 2 felt like more character defining. Basically, I think I've pretty much turned Clem from an innocent kid into another Carver. I got the ending back at Howe's and turned away the group approaching, because I refused to trust anyone else. I feel guilty for doing that to her. haha.

I looked up the other endings, and I think the Kenny endings were better/happier for Clem. But my Clem had seen too much to believe that Wellington could exist.

  • I played it a while ago. That flashback with Lee and Clem kicks you right in the feels.

    Loved the game.

    Spoilers

Ended up going with Jane and turning down the family. I liked Kenny but he was losing it, so I shot him. Really hoped that Luke would make it too.

Also, checkout "Life is Strange" if you haven't already.

    • I liked Luke too. If he had made it, I would have followed him at the end.
Totally agree with that flashback. I was almost half happy to accept that the whole thing was a dream, because it would mean that Lee wasn't dead.

Will check out Life is Strange. Thanks.

  • I've played both games. I might me in the minority but I enjoyed playing season 2 more and actually enjoyed the ending I got for season 2. Don't get me wrong, both seasons are great but I thoroughly enjoyed 2 more.

This topic just reminded me that season 2 is free for PS + members. I shall go download it for the PS4 and maybe get a different ending.

Killed Jane, stuck with good old Kenny, arrived at the gate, left with Kenny due to him not being allowed in.
