We have decided to get our first family dog post January next year
I am currently in the process of reading up books on puppies and labradors to understand the responsibility involved, as the dog will be with us for the next decade or so.
We had briefly thought of adopting a pet, but given that I have no prior experience with dogs and have primary school going children, we have decided on a labrador puppy.
Could anyone suggest a good breeder either in Melbourne or nearby surrounds; we live a couple of hours east of Melbourne. We are staying clear of petshops/ puppy farms
I have stumbled upon a couple of websites listing dog breeders but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations/ first hand experience.

I can't speak highly enough of Labrador rescue. They're a non-profit lab rescue organisation. Fill in an adoption application and you could be re-homing a Labrador :) you get to trial a dog for two weeks to see if the dog is a good fit with your family. You pay a small adoption fee which helps them with vet fees and running the organisation. All dogs are desexed and vaccinated… Visit thei website on:
