Bill Management Software - Going Paperless

Can anyone suggest some good bill management software? For example I want to be able to scan them all into PDF (preferably as one file that the software can split into multiple documents) or import existing PDFs eg printouts and ones saved from email. Each one would be a bill that can be put into one or more categories eg. House, Tax, Banking. The software should be able to keep track of bill date, and payment date. Preferably it would organise them into subfolders so that I don't need to launch the software to find something.

I've looked at You Need A Budget (which is available on Steam) but it doesn't seem to be able to do that. I don't really need to keep track of the actual figures, just the documents. If it can do the budgeting too, then great, but that's not my focus.

Is there anything like this out there?

Just using Windows and creating folders?

    Have a folder called Bills
with sub-folders called House, Tax and Banking
and in each folder have the PDF and rename the PDF to the date of the bill and how much it was?

Use OneNote instead, it's totally free anyway and you don't even need Office (it's a stand alone application).

Also, steam allows refunds, so long as the app hasn't been left open for more than 2 hours.

USe that to your advantage and 'trial' the software and see if you like YNAB.

      • Thanks for the replies.

I currently use folders now, but it's time consuming to type in the date of the bill etc every time - it'd be nice to just select from a drop down box or something, and automatically date it or suggest a date, things like that. Also, some things belong in more than one category so it'd be nice to be able to find things more quickly.

I can't seem to get the hang of OneNote but maybe I'll try it.

You might want to check out ANZ banks money manager, it's free and maybe suit what you are trying to do. You can keep copies of PDFs as fedwood says although as mmanager keeps all transactions which can also be annotated and allocated there may not be a need for this.

    • That's not a bad idea, thanks, I'll try it.
