Use what you want when you want!
$1 per month Dial Up Internet - Unlimited data

Critical Information Summary: http://c.dodo.com/pdfs/plansummary/6080_$1_Dial-up_Plan.pdf

A good deal cheaper than iprimus $9.95 (http://www.iprimus.com.au/products/dialup/), Internode $10 (http://www.internode.on.net/residential/broadband/product_fe…), Earthlink $9.95 (http://www.earthlink.net/dialup/), Lizzy $8.90 (http://lizzy.com.au/dialup/)

Watch out for these things as the surcharges can be crazy:
- Make sure you opt for electronic invoice, otherwise hard copy costs $2.20 per statement. that's a surcharge of 220% (!)
- Pay by direct debit from credit card, otherwise $1.90 processing fee applies if debited from bank account. Although not as bad, it still is a surcharge of 190% (!)

If my math is right AND you got the theoretical 56kb/s AND you used that non stop you would get 1.766016tb of data in a year. Amazing ;),

    • +1

      Actually I think it's…
      56kbps = 56 kilobits per second = 56/8 kilobytes per second = 7 KB per sec
      = 420 KB / minute
      = 25200 KB / hour
      = 604800 KB / day
= 220903200 KB / year (365.25 days per year average)
      = 215725.78125 MB / year (divide by 1024)
      = 210.6697082519531 GB / year
      = 0.205732136964798 TB / year

And the above is at theoretical speeds which I highly doubt will be possible.

      • Well you wouldn't count the quarter day, you would count the extra day on a leap year. Other than that you are correct and so am I.

        • I suspect the confusion was around the use of terabits (tb).

Most people would have converted to terabytes (TB)

Actually, if anyone wants a USB dial-up modem let me know. I'm pretty sure I kept at least one…

  • Soft session of 4 hours apply which requires redialling. Anyone old enough to remember the days of FreeNet in 1999/2000? Ah the good old days!
