  • I play in the Blacktown comp. Grade cricket is played on turf and is for more of the purist, higher fee's, more competitive and most teams will require you to try out before they will sign you up. Division cricket is played on Synthetic, anyone can play, no skill level required and there is 10 divisions. My club charges $160 for a season and that covers a shirt, cap, insurance & pays for the cost of a new ball to be used each game. Dont be fool, the quality of the division cricket is still pretty good, & for $160 a season all inclusive is a bargain.

  • Thankyou Cypher for the information. $160 for the whole season is good. But any idea how much Grade cricket charge for an individual match?

  • I haven't played grade since I was like 19, it was around $3-400 then, but that was in Queensland, so I doubt it of any help to you.

  • Thankyou Cypher. Your information is very helpful. I have been told by one of the club here in NSW that a single match fee cost$25 for a turf match. I thought it was expensive.

  • Most grade and shires clubs expect you to sign up for the season. Some of them have 1/2 season prices that might work out at 75% of full season cost. Annual costs range from about $300 to $600 per season. Most clubs have early-bird rates but these would have finished by now. Many clubs have reduced rates for U21 or U24 players. All grade / shires matches are played on turf wickets with 2 independent umpires whereas most park cricket is played on synthetic wickets with either one umpire or the players self-umpiring. Umpires and turf wickets are significant costs.

    • Correct - grade cricket there is a membership fee which covers the insurance and pitch management; you then pay a fee per game depending on the ball and umpire rates. Park cricket is a once off fee, the occasional umpire will show up but the club covers that and the players are not out of pocket. Highly recommend park cricket from a budget perspective unless you are a purist or spinner

  • Thank you Guys for all your valuable advice. It seems that Grade cricket is the purest with 2 independent umpires.

    • It is for high level cricket. But park cricket is great for some fun.

  • We set up a new cricket team this year! It's park cricket but would love a new player - we play in the north shore league ( crows nest rebels) but we are a great bunch of lads - we pay $200 inc cap, shirt, match balls and beers after game

    • $200 including beers! Are the Crows Nest Rebels sponsored by a pub?

      • A pub & a pizza place! Team night out was $50 eat & drink all you can! A good night!
