Hi guys,

I am looking for a cordless trimmer. Do you have any suggestion?

Thank you.

  • Make sure it has a battery ;)

  • 2 stroke petrols are cordless…. tons in Bunnings. I didn't go for a battery one because it might keep running out of battery while i complete the full front and back yard and went for corded one. Didn't want to have a 2 stroke whipper snipper…and 4 strokes were more than what I was willing to pay.

  • Own a Bunnings homelite 2 yr warranty cheapie
    Does the job.
Shits itself after about 18 months and then i merrily drive down to Bunnings to get my new for old exchange

  • I had some Ryobi gear so stumped up for a Ryobi one+ 18v line trimmer, came with a blower and a 4ah battery. I also had two other batteries (smaller) from the drill etc already. I also had an 18v hedge trimmer already.

I have found the big battery is usually enough to do the hedges and the edges, using the hedge trimmer and the line trimmer and sometimes had enough to use the blower for a short while at the end too. If the battery runs out, I just grab one of the others. It isn't very powerful, but cuts buffalo OK if you are patient. I used to have about 200m2 of lawn and also did edging along a couple of retaining walls in that section, so the battery is enough for a normal house block.

Overall I'm glad I don't have to struggle with starting my crappy old petrol trimmer, don't have to mix or store fuel for it and don't have to worry about dragging a cord around like I do with the mower. Turns out it was a great investment for me. YMMV.
