Somewhat surprisingly this actually works too. Lists all free songs and albums on the store, not many jumping out that haven't been posted recently.

We know it's your 1st time because of the massive yellow L beside your name.
Thanks for posting, have a Vegemite sandwich.

I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me?
      Thanks!

      • Sorry no deals for a free vegemite sandwich.

          @Snoop:

Sorry only man I know is overseas atm is our ex PM and I wouldn't trust him with my food.

    • Gotta get minimum characters somehow :P

    • Vegemite = partial Australian. Made here but owned by Kraft US.

      • Not owned by Kraft anymore, they sold it to US confectionary company Mondelēz International. Funny enough that's why to don't see Kraft on the label anymore. Pity there was no Australian buyer…

        • Buy DickyMite instead.

        • +3

Mondelēz = a spin-off company, essentially Kraft with a new name.

          Kinda like Lexus = Toyota

        • +1

          @EightImmortals: I would if it wasn't so damn expensive…

        • +1

Kraft bought out Cadbury via Mondelez too. That's why we saw them combine Vegemite and Dairy milk chocolate. If they buy out Unilever next they'll probably put Vegemite in our laundry powder ;-)

  • schweet!

A few shockers in that mix. Thanks for sharing though, OP.

As a foreigner I am totally ignorant about AUS music in the 80's… I am wishing myself luck

    • +3

Please don't think that this is the pinnacle of Aussie 80's music.

      • I know, right? At the very least Sundar could've chucked in a better Air Supply song.

        • +1

Or even the Church. Best eighties australian stuff would be Air Supply, the Church, throw your arms around me by H&C, to her door by paul kelly, boys in town by the divynls.

  • While you're there might as well grab Farnsey's Greatest Hits too. Who knows, he might come out of retirement if he gets enough downloads! https://play.google.com/store/music/album/John_Farnham_Great…

      Showing as 99c now

Must be Aussie 80's-ish, given the inclusion of 1977's Love and Other Bruises…

And Even the nights are better is a arguably a better track and actually in the 80s.

  • +1

I'm not going to get it, but anything 80s is worth a +'ve, well nearly everything….

  • "What About Me?" lol

  • -6

Can't be stuffed clicking, what's on the album?

    • +25

Couldn't be stuffed answering your question properly.

  • Thanks OP!

  • Daryl Braithwaite and John Farnham - together at last!

    • Every time you blink one of them comes out of retirement.

      • -1

Neither of them ever retired ?

        • From 2011:

          http://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainment/john-farnham-set-t…

But you're right that Braithwaite hasn't retired.

        • -1

@syousef: LOL so I'm guessing you didn't even read the article you linked to.. ??

I can't believe that after 13 years morons are still quoting this… All he said in 2002, as quoted in the article, he announced his decision to retire from full-scale national tours. And he hasn't done a full scale national tour since then. He never said he was never going to sing another note. Unbelievable..

        • -1

          @billyb67:

Do you have a sense of humour?

Did I say he should be banned or taken to court over it?

I actually like his older stuff…but it's still hilarious that he keeps doing "one last time" tours.

        • -1

          @syousef:

          I do

But the point is that you & millions of others actually believe he 'retired' and keeps having comebacks every year

        • @billyb67:

Oh come on it's his own fault.

The man called his 2002 album "The Last Time" then went on a series of last time tours.
          Nothing unclear about that.

          2006:
          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Farnham#I_Remember_When_I…
"In February 2006, Farnham performed four shows at the Sydney Opera House, with the Sydney Symphony, followed by shows at the Victorian Arts Centre's Hamer Hall, Melbourne.[74]

From 18 February, Farnham embarked on a small Australian tour with Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks for a series of live shows.[74][77] Both artists had equal billing but, unlike the Tom Jones shows, they did not sing together but individually. The same backup singers from the tour, however, were used by both Nicks and Farnham."

          2009:

          2011:
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8XuyRsPUxI

          Last Year:
'"I'm tired of being retired," 59-year-old Farnham confessed when he announced the tour.'
          http://thefix.ninemsn.com.au/2014/12/09/02/58/john-farnham-r…

          This year:
"RETURNING TO QANTAS CREDIT UNION ARENA FOR THE LAST TIME – ONE NIGHT ONLY!"
          https://www.frontiertouring.com/johnfarnham

"He's a man who was chosen to come out of retirement any retiree is
entitled to do that of course muddy is with the fact that he talked a
lot of money of a lot of people by falsely implying that he
wouldn't to again this is the man who night an absolute fortune
for his last time tour after speaking to his fans would-be the
last time but get to see him live and it was only after he hit the
stage on that to a after he'd already sold the tickets for the premium
prices that he began in a very slippery fashion to redefine
his meaning of retirement standing in front of his crying devote fans
that's when he surprisingly the claimed that his retirement was
only from the big venues and he still intended to go on doing
shows and he's sneaky shift in definitions didn't go unnoticed by
many of his audiences and the with this week's announcement of the
twenty-five years whispering Jack tour it marks the fourth time since
that original declaration retirement but John Bonham has returned
to the stage. Now I'm not the only one who believes the ACCC should
          investigate this."
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8XuyRsPUxI

To be clear I've never spent a cent to see him live. I wanted to in 1988/89 when I was a teen but never had the cash. Now that I have the cash I could never justify it. The above is a little harsh. Fans paid to see him and see him they did even if it turned out it wasn't the last time. Would I feel ripped off if I'd fallen for it? Probably. But as it stands I don't have a horse in that race. Except that of course I think at the very least his actions deserve a good lampooning.

        • @syousef:

How am I supposed to reply to that?

He can't be blamed for every word the useless media prints about him.

Yes he could have been a bit clearer and having the album & tour being called "The Last Time' didn't help things to be honest.
I'm just sick of this whole issue of 'retirement' & 'yet Another comeback' having become a national joke when to me, it's always been very clear what he said. That's all I'm trying to say.

        • @billyb67:

Did the media name his albums and tours? Give it a rest.

I had no idea Dragon were Australian.

    • +3

Australian as Russel Crowe. lol But yes, one could argue that they are Kiwi's. lol

I have the original 1984 CD of Body and the Beat, made in West Germany. It says recorded in Sydney, and their Telex number is: AA75051 if you want to discuss it further with them. lol

Don't you go out in the rainnnnn! lol

      • Bloody hell. I don't know if that makes me like them more or less.

Apparently they knocked out a couple of progressive rock albums before they went pop. Based on a cursory listen, they weren't too bad either:-

super stars like shannon noll invented music in Australia.

  • Some what of topic, but my friend uses Google Play on her Samsung S4 & can play music ok thru Play Music app on her phone, but she wants to copy/transfer music (Play content) from the phone to her PC.

But the folder/location where Google stores them does not show up when phone connected to PC.
I have looked (via PC connection) but most people say (when I searched online) it's in the google play FILE or Cache folder, but there nothing in it.

I have never used Play for music, etc, myself.

    T.I.A

    • +1

Just get her to log on to Google Play Music from her PC. She can access all her music under "My Music". More info [here](https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/1250232?hl=en

      • Thanks for the tip.
Sorry about the late reply, issues with laptop as well as some viruses, anyway.

She wanted to move some less played albums to her PC (or to mSD card), to free up phone storage (as well as mSD card) & to be able to transfer music back and forward, without worrying about paying for them again.

But when her phone is connected to PC, the location where PLAY keeps the songs cant be found, unless I'm blind.
I tried moving from within PLAY to mSD, but that just dumped the songs to card without any song info (name, band, etc).

        Cheers
