We have a Billion 7800VDOX. As of this week, on our Cisco VOIP phones outbound calls to mobiles don't ring or ring and then drop. No problem with outbound calls to landlines. No problem with inbound calls from mobiles.
iinet tested the lines from their end & there is no problem. All the settings in the modem are correct. iinet advised that there is probably a fault with the modem.
Can anyone recommend a good digital VOIP modem alternative to Billion?

a dial plan problem? outbound works for some numbers but not others
No, because from time to time the call goes through.
It wasn't a problem for 9 months until a couple of days agoi'm skeptical that the billion is faulty, simply because it works for some numbers. i would suspect a configuration problem or a voip service provider issue.
have you checked for firmware upgrades?
the billion also probably has some means of providing debugging info to show what is happening for the voip dialogue for outbound calls.
What is the difference between this & the 'U' model?
https://www.asus.com/au/Networking/DSLAC68U/i think U is the one for ISP's and R is for retail customers
Just found out they are exactly the same

What is your experience with using it for digital VOIP?
How long have you had it for?dont use any voip
I use the same model. No problems here running the latest firmware. Suggest restting to factory default and reconfiguring.
Fritzbox are supposed to be good.
