Hi guys as the title suggests I just want to know if Bereavement leave should come out of my sick leave balance assuming all the necessary approval and documentation has been obtained or if this is a separate entitlement. I understand its 2 days per deceased/seriously ill

Pretty sure in many awards bereavement leave is a separate entitlement to sick leave and won't affect your leave balances. However, normally it only applies upon the death of a member of your immediate family or household. Check your award because different awards may have different requirements.
Depends on what jurisdiction you work in, i.e. whether you are covered under federal or state system, your award/agreement/contract/company policies.
Second the suggestions of speaking to your manager and then your HR department.
Bereavement leave is separate from personal (aka sick) leave.
Bereavement leave is 2 days per event, and personal leave is 10 days annually.
- assuming that you are a full time employee.
2 paid days per event (death or serious injury) for salaried employees; 2 unpaid days per event for casuals.
Like sick leave, it is not something you can "cash out".
I think it's best for you to contact your HR department instead of Ozbargain and sorry for your loss.
