Looks like a decent price for a pre-order. Personally going to wait until this hits sub-$100 before I pull the trigger.

    • +8

I wouldn't think that it will go under $100, ever. The original controller is still $89 rrp in Australia, so the lowest this would go is $150 and that would be years from now I'd imagine.

They haven't made this for the masses, it's made more for the select few who are competitive gamers or those like myself, who just want to buy it because I can.

I'd love it to go to $100, but I just can't see it ever going to such a low price.

      • +5

It hasn't even been released and it's going for less than $150 delivered. Think like an OZbargainer ;)

I'll buy it with the Wireless PC adapter when the price is right, until then I'm happy using my DS4.

        • The pre order price at EB is 200 dollars. I highly doubt it will get under 100. Considering an xbox 360 controller is still over 50.

        • Think like an OZbargainer ;)

That's one thing to do that, and another to dream you can get it for almost the same price as the standard controller; perhaps when XB2 is released :)

        • +1

          @gokhanh:

This is technically the Xbox 3 ;)

I think you are on the wrong site if you buy items based on RRP :)

        • Why would you buy it if you're going to use it on PC though? IMO this one mainly benefits shooters on consoles, and you don't have that problem on PC. Otherwise RAC, ACT, RPG etc work perfectly fine with a normal X1 controller, or in your case, DS4.

        • @CrazyPaladin:

Sometimes I like to game on my TV. When I do, I like the idea of having customizable grips, hair lock triggers and hardware profiles. For me it only extends on the great controller scheme used by both Microsoft and Sony for their controllers. :)

        • @arc4ne:

This particular item is currently priced over $50 less than "RRP", to suggest that it may drop even further, well, maybe if it comes from the back of a truck; and you know what I mean by XB2 ;)

    • +1

i'm with you Murray <3 no need to rush

  • Wow, great price for a single controller only.

  • +1

Haha I never thought to put it on here, only put it on whirlpool. Silly me

  • +19

It will go nicely in the Porsche.

  • is this store legit?

    • Yes. They have an ebay store too with lots of feedback. 99.1% from 1978 items.

They are aligned with PB Tech in NZ and that's where the items come from (I know because I asked them about it. They seemed pretty open and answered all my questions). Even if it wasn't legit, pay with paypal and you can always get your money back through them.

    • +1

Link to Whirlpool forum asking just that: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2415732
It's why I posted as PayPal too, easier to dispute if anything goes wrong.

      • +1

ordered one, will see how it goes. My last exam is on the 6th.

  • Why is it better than a normal xbox one controller?

    • +3

      Still nowhere near WASD /pcmasterrace

      • -1

And, unless Valve ends up charging $100 postage, it's both much more expensive, and clearly inferior control-wise, to the Steam Controller for PC gaming.

        • +7

          Clearly… You've tried both?

        • @FabMan:

No, I just have a hard time believing there's a joystick more precise and responsive than an actual trackpad for aim/look and similar functions that are objectively better with a mouse/trackpad.

        • @mgowen:

Maybe wait and try them before passing judgement, Valve's maybe crap, maybe not. Plus the XBox controllers are well regarded.

      • There's going to be a whole generation of kids with permanently disfigured left hands from WASD.

        Numpad/g13/orbweaver FTW.

        • We're in our 30's and 40's now. No problems so far.

        • @mgowen:

          I was kidding :)

I personally dislike the out-of-alignment of WASD. Most people are used to it, that's fine. But it's just so… not quite right.

Thanks just got one, hopefully seller is trusted. I used Paypal just in case

    • Trusted seller. I would highly recommend them. Bought a couple of camera accessories with them, even given $5 discount off each item. Fast with tracking delivery. What more can I say.

  • Seller is very trustworthy I have used recently

  • Does anyone know if this has a tax invoice included? Thanks!

  • +3

I can't believe I'm saying this is "cheap" but IIRC the RRP is $149 US for the thing, so yeah, it's cheap.

    • That's what blew me away, i knew it was a deal being on the front page and having all the upvotes. But DAMN, not a cheap controller…

      Wouldn't mind trying!

  • +13

Thanks OP, got one. Before even buying an Xbox One

    • +2

      Hahaha, I like your style.

    • +2

That's the Ozbargain spirit! I'll find something to put all these eneloops into eventually…

  • Not sure why the website is giving me so much trouble, won't accept my delivery address details from paypal even though I know the details are correct and have worked with many other websites… might have to miss out purely based on their website not accepting what I'm putting in.

    • Maybe just send them an email, see what they can do for you.

  • +1

I'd love to pull the trigger on this but I just can't justify it so close to the Steam Controller release. I wanna wait and see how good that thing is before I think about spending $150 on a different controller.

(sorta offtopic question but is there any aus pricing for those yet?

    • Have not really heard great things about the steam controller anyway. I just love the way the Xbox controller feels, and I used to be a hardcore playstation fanatic.

    • The reviews aren't that great for the Steam Controller. For example: http://www.destructoid.com/review-steam-controller-316931.ph…

    • Steam knows digital games platforms and developing games well. They have years of experience behind that to back up that claim. Microsoft have been designing consoles for over a decade with feedback from millions of game players. Would you trust a newbie or an experienced company on your next controller? Now, they could very well blow everyone out of the market, but just saying.. :)

  • +2

Not for me, but its a good bargain, nice find.
It just makes me think for a controller to be this expensive it might be nice to start with a whole new elite console and controller and trade in my old one.

    • Which you can do for $299 as a level 3 (or higher) member at the moment. The offer is valid until the 13th of November.

      • what's a level 3 member? I'd be interested in upgrading my console

        • You can pay something like $30 and you get level 3 for a year and then you get an extra 15% on trade in's. Unsure if you can use the bonus value on top of $299 or if the $299 includes that bonus.

The other way to get to level 3 is to spend money and ear their 'carrot's'. Once you have 4500 carrots, you get level 3 permanently.

      • Do you mean a level 3 EB games member? Your post is.. mysterious. :)

        • Yes I do, typed that one in a rush. My bad.

  • +1

I'll buy it if it ever drops around $100-110 range.

  • this controller is the main reason I have preordered the 1TB SSHD Xbox One Elite Bundle from EB games and not purchased the better value XB1 deals of late. SSD inside is also a bonus.

    • +3

It's a SSHD which isn't a straight up ssd. A small section of a regular HDD is reserved for SSD which stores your most used items such as OS and the games/apps you launch most often, and launches those faster. It might be better to get one of those bundles then purchase the controller separately. Yes it will work out to be a similar price, but you'd get a few games with the bundles, whereas you'd have to add that on top of the elite bundle.

Not telling you what to do, just wanted to add something for you to think about :)

    • It's not a SSD, it's just a slightly re-configured HDD.

      • That's basically what I meant.

        • No prob's, I was replying to dlakers3peat's comment, not your comment.

  • Are they doing the deal in australia where you tade in your xbox one to upgrade to the elite?

    • +1

Only place that has it atm is EB games. They are apparently offering $299 for Xbox one trade in for this if you are a level 3 member.

  • +3

this thing is $200 normally? they might as well throw in a free console with it at those prices.. hehehe

    • +3

A genuine SCUF controller costs upward of $200 AUD, it is what the majority of competition gamers use; also bare in mind people spend beyond that on a KB+M. The controller is designed for gamers that want to customise everything right down to the deadzone and sensitivity on the analogue sticks; it is, quite literally, designed for elite gamers. Anyone not interested in such customisation can simply pick up a standard XBOne controller for much less.
Each to their own though, I can still understand people considering this too expensive.

  • A $10 keyboard and mouse will destroy any controller.

    • I got a couple mates that would prove you wrong. ;-)

      • By any chance, Are their names Dez and Troy?

        • +3

Nope, but I assume they're names we can add to the list then. lol

    • Who the hell cares.

    • Unless you're getting a good keyboard on sale any $10 crappy keyboard and mouse will be about as useful for gaming as an Apple peripheral.

    • I don't think you know how shit a $10 KBAM combo is.

    • -1

      said the casual gamer

  • +1

Just pre-order one,140 AUD is reasonable price for me and I doubt that a better deal can pop up soon.
    Thanks matthewk85.

  • +6

will this hurry up and expire or run out of stock before i buy it.

    • +1

In case you were wondering…it's still in stock ;)

  • Soft velvetty buttery plastic… is that the same sort of plastic as the ones on the grippy parts of MS Mice? From my experience in using those, they start to get sticky and disintegrate over time.

    • Yep, soft touch. If you have sweaty palms over time it will peel off. and reveal the shiny plastic underneath.

  • Does the wireless PC adapter come with this? Or am I better off getting a xbox360 controller to get it to work with Windows 10?

    • Dongle does not come with it. You can use it wired though. Or buy the dongle.
Xbox 360 controller needs a dongle too.

      • I assume it comes with a wire?

        • I think that would be a safe assumption. The standard X1 controller comes with a great (really long) miniUSB cable. If they didn't include one with their $200 Elite controller, there would be some backlash haha.

  • Awesome. Thanks OP, wasn't willing to pay the 199 RRP. This is slightly more reasonable.

  • +3

The snobby PC superiority complex in these comments is really just sad.

Having said that; does anyone know much about this controller in comparison to it's SCUF counterpart?

    • +1

In my previous research (cannot remember exactly now) but it was priced right around spot on with other custom "pro" controllers - if not a touch cheaper. By all accounts, seems like a really high quality item.

  • +1

I am so weak… Bought. So much prefer xbone controller to ps4 and I've heard nothing but good things about this.

  • Cheers OP! Had been considering getting one of these for a good long while and this is a pretty impressive price!

  • Looking to buy a couple of these for my 6 year old nephew. Are these durable and child friendly?

    • I would recommend you just buy the standard controller first. From experience 6 year olds are very hard on these things.

  • Ordered, great tip, thanks OP

  • Hmm just noticed the different shipment dates. No idea what what shipment I got in to…

    • I don't recall seeing that before, don't know if it's possible to see what shipment you're in; they might be able to tell you if you contact them. For that price, I don't mind waiting a bit longer anyway.

      • Yeah i don't remember it either. I just messaged them and asked if they could tell me. I did order fairly late, so doubt i'll be in the first shipment.

        • I just noticed they have a ticket lodged with NZ post (when looking at the order in my account) which i assume is pre-lodgement for forwarding on to me. You can go to the NZpost website and put in the tracking number. Whilst obviously there won't be any info yet, it could be worth checking it on the 6th or 7th to see if it updates with tracking info, assuming they can't tell you beforehand.

Hi there, is there any way to find out which shipment we are in ? It makes the waiting more bearable.

      • +3

I will be able to find out by end of this week once numbers confirmed for first shipment and any extra we are able to pickup.

        • Thanks for following up for us Brett.

        • +1

Hi, rep any updates yet? I received an email with an order number but it doesn't tell which shipment is mine allocated to.

        • I just got an email say that my order is still on back order with supplier. Does that mean there is not enough stock for first 3 shipment ?
