I received an email from Cash Rewards about discount + cash back on Lenovo laptops and working out my purchase.
(For example this deal: http://www.cashrewards.com.au/coupons/additional-10-off-or-a…)
In the case above, is the cash back rate applied to the discounted selling price?
Thanks
Different merchants are a bit different. For Lenovo I found
For example if you a laptop is $1000 and there's a 10% off coupon code. At the end of checkout you decide to spend $200 more to get 2 extra year of NBD warranty. So you end up pauing $1000 x 0.9 + $200 = $1100
For cashback it's calculated from the discounted price of the laptop minus the GST. Currently Cash Rewards give 9% cashback. Therefore you will get $1000 x 0.9 / 1.1 x 0.09 = $73.64 as cashback.
