Good prices, 80mb/s as opposed to half from the Evo's

  • I placed an order from last week but have not had any response from website.

  • Bit the bullet and got a 64 GB Australian stock to go with her new LG G4 from last deal. Thanks for posting.

  • Bit the bullet +1. Hope the card will be delivered.

in case anyone was wondering… This is not very good for the current line up of GoPros. Otherwise good value

  • Looking forward to dispatch of stock purchased Tue 20 Oct earlier in week.

  • Are these ok for use in smartphones? (@ultramup above said it is not good for GoPro). thanks

    • +3

Should be OK. Smartphones don't usually needs to write data at very high sequential speed like a GoPro (especially when shooting 4K video).

I wouldn't rely on shopping square I ordered some usb cables over a month ago and still waiting tried to contact the store but nothing, but I guess if your willing to take the risk and throw your money away then is in your hands.

    • I bought as well 8 days ago and the stock was in Sydney. Still waiting for mine. Not that happy to wait long like I imported them from overseas.

  • Shopping Square Rep: Danilchan

    • Sent him a PM with details. Lets see.

Very slow shipping. Would not recommend ordering from these guys.

Took about a month for my 32gb Samsung card to arrive

    • +4

That's why you should pay more and buy from their Australian stock.
You need to allow one month for them to deliver if buying from Hong Kong stock.

  • Are these ok for dash cams?

    • +1

Yes. As long as the output is <= 1080p, these cards are very good for devices that accepts microSD cards.

Cause we all love benchmarks - 64gb bought from Shopping Express last week:

    Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 84.676 MB/s
    Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 35.127 MB/s
    Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 6.970 MB/s [ 1701.7 IOPS]
    Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 2.179 MB/s [ 532.0 IOPS]
    Sequential Read (T= 1) : 72.143 MB/s
    Sequential Write (T= 1) : 51.806 MB/s
    Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 5.163 MB/s [ 1260.5 IOPS]
    Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 1.997 MB/s [ 487.5 IOPS]

    Test : 500 MiB [E: 1.7% (1.0/59.4 GiB)] (x1)
    Date : 2015/10/24 19:03:45

I did notice that if the test size is 100mb the write speed is around 80mb so there is buffering/caching going on in the SD card to speed up its burst speed performance.

  • What is the best value for money 64gb card with the write speed of 50 MB/s?

    • Probably this one, with +30 MB/s on tap

    • +2

If you're looking for 50 megabytes per second write rate (Unless you mean 50 megabits (~5 megs per sec) in which case yes this card should be suitable), this card (after you get past the buffer/caching) only writes at around 20 mb per sec). There are lots of factors involved, and if you need a fast card that can sustain that speed constantly you need to look at the higher end cards.
If this card was really capable of writing at the speeds I posted above (continually) it would have been rated as U3 and not class 10.

Just re-ran the benchmark using 50mb sized file and got :

      Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 87.042 MB/s
      Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 29.597 MB/s
      Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 8.751 MB/s [ 2136.5 IOPS]
      Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1.016 MB/s [ 248.0 IOPS]
      Sequential Read (T= 1) : 59.986 MB/s
      Sequential Write (T= 1) : 80.122 MB/s
      Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 6.571 MB/s [ 1604.2 IOPS]
      Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 1.122 MB/s [ 273.9 IOPS]

Sequential write as you can see is showing at 80mb —- but like I said, once you start writing you see speed starting to drop down until it maintains a write rate of around the 20mb per sec.

As the card gets more data written to it as well speeds will change as they have for me re-running it.

This is the ideal card for a camcorder where you have upto 100mbit recording speeds (10 megs per sec) so you'll never get an underrun, and then want super fast read rates from the card when transferring the information back to a computer - for that, this card given its price excels.

      • Is this price about as low as it gets for this type of write speed and size? (64gb). I've had really bad experience with sandisk in the past but if this is a great deal might just pull the trigger on it. Otherwise I might wait for a samsung evo+ 64 to come down too.

    any 128gb deals?

  • I wish someone would do a deal on dash cams

Still kicking myself for missing the $49 G1W-CB from eBay last time

  • Will Officeworks pricematch the AU stock?

    • I don't think so….

  • Is there an easy way to clone my current 16gb SD card in my Y550 & upgrade it to a 64gb card?

    • Give this a shot mate:

      http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/

Use it to write out the 16gb card to a file on your hard drive, then use the same tool to write out the file on your drive back onto an inserted SD card.

After installation you may need to use a 3rd party disk tool (or try windows disk manager) to extend the size of the partition on the 64gb card because the file system will still think its limited to 16gb.

      • Forgot to mention that the file system used may pose issues when trying to extend beyond a certain size so it might not be a simple conversion (ie fat/exfat etc).

      • Cheers Legend. But looks like I can just copy /paste the lot with a pc (with hidden files selected) as long as:
        1) I remove my current SD card from phone & use a card reader (so Android system files are copied).
        2) Format the new card with phone first to ensure file systems are the same.

        Sound about right?

Still haven't received card from last deal. Not happy

    • How long ago was that? Did you buy from their Australian or Hong Kong stock?

    • +1

Same. I wonder if the delivery/dispatch changes every few days. Pretty sure it had an earlier date, but when logged in at another time, it pushes it more back. Hmm. Paid 17/10 and delivery date set at 27/10 at the moment. Allowing for a few days of Bpay still seems bit long. Oh well. Online vs bricks and mortar.

      • Me too. Also haven't received the card from the last deal. Feeling a bit ripped off…

  • Just ordered one 64GB, AU stock has generally been promptly received. Fingers crossed.

    • +1

Not received mine yet and its been 8 days.

    • is that a DaaChan or Homer in OP's avatar;).Doh!
