I booked a hotel in Thailand a few months ago on Hotels.com for $935 for the week. They have a sale on at the moment and the same hotel room for the same period is not $776.
The price match guarantee says "If you find on exactly the same stay elsewhere, we'll match it or you can cancel the booking without a penalty".
I'll have a look tonight to see if other sites are charging a similar rate, but if not, has anyone ever tried to get them to refund the difference if the price drops? I'm thinking they'll claim that the cheaper room isn't 'elsewhere' and wont do it.
But it never hurts to ask.
Hotels.com usually don't charge cancellation fees, so one option is to cancel your old booking and book with the new price. I have done this before, but I can't remember which hotels website I used.
