Everyday Rewards restructure Q4-2015 -- or new Woolworths rewards progam - plus impact on QFF QANTAS Frequent Flyer points miles

Just saw email from QANTAS advising QFF members of possible change - i.e. looks like QFF are about to lose ER as a customer.

Found these:-

Woolworths faces hard landing if Qantas frequent flyer deal ends

I have my QFF linked to my ER card but haven't been keeping track at all of them nor working out if / when I need to manually transfer points.

NB: Keen to get hear perspectives from those who are currently earning ER point - not about their competitors.
For those off-topic comments - re comparison Coles/FlyBuys/Etihad or Virgin/BP considerations - please start a new thread to offer your thoughts there on that.

  • Not sure if this should go into Food & Grocery sub-forum?? It also involves QFF - i.e. Travel sub-forum

    No sub-forum for rewards programs!!??

AFAIK there is no transferring. They are credited directly.

I'm annoyed by the fact you don't get points on spends less than $30. I would like it if you earnt fractions of a point if you spent less. Even if it did mean you had to log in and transfer manually when they added up to whole numbers

My office is nearby a Woolies, so I more often than not do lots of short shops in a lunch break, not a big shop once a week. Love the quick sale section! Lots of good bargains when the expiry date is close.

So I would welcome a change to their rewards program. I don't find it very rewarding. I'm pretty captive to WW unfortunately, the distance I have to drive to get to a competitor is not worth it. Perhaps they've figured out anyone shopping that way is probably captive and is not coming to woolies for the QFF points

Yeah, that's the reason I just click past the Please scan your EDR card prompt. Pointless (literally) if buying less than $30. Coles, on the other hand…

  • Keen to get hear perspectives from those who are currently earning ER point

But nobody has ever earned a single Woolworths ER point since the beginning of time.

    • That's because… Ummm…

There's no such thing as a Woolworths ER "point"…

  • The only benefit I found with the partnership was the ability to join the QFF membership for free any time. It's rare for me to spend over $30, as our grocery shops are small, but frequent.

I guess it made it easier to keep the QFF points active though.

I'm the same as many, my shops are frequent but smaller in basket, and never bother with the reward program because I never get points, or maybe the token one or two.

I think that is also the reason why WW is scrapping it, coz qantas obviously chargers WW a fair bit for the points, and if WW was to make it for smaller baskets it would cost even more. I read it currently costs 80m, I can only imagine it doubling or more if we got points for less than a $30 shop.

I say scrap these stupid programs, and just lower the price of the groceries.

If they scrap these programs, you are left with a supermarket called Aldi.

  • I think Woolies should make both Qantas and new own reward program exist and let customers to choose which program to follow.

  • I do on occasion spend over $30 and enjoy earning the additional QFF points, dropping Qantas just gives me another reason to choose Coles. Both stores are within metres of each other.

Edit: Just received an email from QFF, seems they want the deal to remain or at least keep a relationship with Woolworthes.

    "
As a valued Frequent Flyer member we wanted to give you an update on the partnership between Qantas and Woolworths.

Woolworths and Qantas Frequent Flyer have been in partnership for more than six years. We are working together to ensure how, as a loyal member of Qantas Frequent Flyer and a Woolworths shopper, you will continue to get the best value from the rewards program.

We look forward to sharing further updates with you.

    Yours sincerely
    The Qantas Frequent Flyer Team"

  • Looks like a new rewards program is starting this Wednesday.

    Email:

Members told us what they really want is money off their shopping, so we’ve changed points for Woolworths Dollars!

On Wednesday, Everyday Rewards will become Woolworths Rewards. Your new card will arrive shortly, so look out for it in your mailbox. In the meantime, just keep scanning your current card.

This means your existing member rewards are changing. You can continue to earn Qantas Points through Woolworths Rewards, but only until 31 December 2015 – for more information, check out our FAQs.

  • Yep, received an email this morning. No more QFF points from the new year, tis a shame.

  • Received emails from WW as above and Qantas:

We would like to let you know that whilst Woolworths are changing their rewards program, Qantas Points can still be earned with Everyday Rewards as per today until 31 December 2015. We are working with Woolworths on a new partnership from 2016, and will keep you posted.

Can't see how it will change given that WW have firmly said no more points after 31 Dec.

Also noted that WW Rewards will NOT be earned on ALL spend:

    ORANGE TICKET PRODUCTS
Look out for a huge range of orange ticket products. They tell you how much you'll pay, and how much you'll earn. You'll find them in catalogues, online, via email, Woolworths supermarkets and BWS stores (excluding Tasmania).

Not sure what is the earn rate either?

    • I don't think there will be a single earn rate, the orange price tags will indicate how many Woolies Dollars will be awarded.

  • This looks like a much better deal than the Qantas program.

I never actually redeemed anything from it and only have ~600 points…

I only spend around $35 each time which equates to 5 points per shop.

I hope they can let us spend the points for a 750:5 dollar ratio… Otherwise they will probably expire after 18 months of inactivity.

Qantas FF miles do not expire as long as you transact within a certain period of time. And so, by using my ER Card with $30 plus spends, I was adding to my QFF account, and I was also keeping my QFF miles from expiring.

Researching how to keep my QFF points from expiring, I found
"Your Qantas Points Expiry - Keep your account active
Your Qantas Points won't expire provided you earn or use Qantas Points through your account at least once every 18 months…………….. The 18 month time period starts from the date of your last eligible activity."
    And under 'Qantas Cash'
"Earning Qantas Points In Australia - Earn 1 point for every $2 you spend on eligible purchases in Australian Dollars"
And so my idea is to load and use say $A30 annually (=15 points) to keep my QFF points from expiring. A bit of a hassle, but just mark the calendar.
Does anyone have any simpler methods?
