Intel Compute Stick QUAD Core 2GB 32GB HDMI Desktop PC - $169 + $50 eBay Voucher @ Wireless1

190

Not going to appeal to everyone, but I'm sure everyone might will impulse and buy one. :)

Not really needed but at this price and the whole eBay voucher with Click and Collect, why say no - its Ozbargains after all.

Upsides - Portable, not bad for general web browsing, streaming ok, free upgrade to Windows 10 - not sure if enough space.
Downsides - lack of multiple USB ports - alternatively use a hub, no audio out jack/port (headphone speaker jack)

  • look up reviews before buying. I found a negative one: http://gizmodo.com/intel-compute-stick-review-don-t-buy-it-1…

Seems like a pretty stupid review. A lot of those issues are easily solved.

Its not like you can easily go and buy a better alternative for a similar price.

    • For the price, it's hard to beat - keeping in mind the reviewed price is at $150 US.

Pretty cheap way to get a portable windows PC.

Id consider buying one if I didn't already have a windows pendopad.

  • audio is via hdmi, how is there not audio out?

    • +1

Sorry will clarify, no audio out jack/port

If you do buy it, make sure to get something else anywhere worth $31+ (click and collect) so you get the $100 voucher (makes financial sense)

  • Why are we excluded? (SA/WA)

    • And this is not first time :-(

im wondering how well this is a media centre pc to run KODI or Plex. Has anyone got any experience with it?

  • if you guys have nothing to buy go get to the $200 mark, just put in a microsd card such as this one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/171966119437

  • I bought one for watching videos in browsers on the TV, as I have not been able to find any other way to do this. Even SmartTVs are not smart enough for these sorts of things. Now, any video I can watch on my home PC, I can also watch on the BIG screen. NICE!

    Any other takers?

  • I am guessing it will run foxtel play?

    • I should hope so.

    • Who uses SD Foxtel play/Foxtel Go?

      Google Popcorn Time.

This app will be your best friend :)

  • Hey guys, anyone had any problems running theirs? unboxed mine tonight, plugged in to tv and half of the screen is a hiedous fuzzy yellow/green. Installed windows fine, I can navigate if i go up close, but obviously something is wrong. Troubleshooting is limited for this device, any ideas?

    thanks
