It's for an ASUS laptop, late model, slim design. Only has 2GB pre-installed. I have another 2GB chip I need installed(already have the RAM).
I am usually confident doing memory upgrades but these new laptops are a pain in the neck for me.
It doesn't have a dedicated memory compartment that I can easily screw off, and in order to get inside the machine I'm presuming you have to remove the whole front and rear chassis of the machine. I tried doing this and it was really difficult to open and I was scared I was going to break something inside of it.
I couldn't find instructions available online for this model.
It's an Asus F451MA-VX015H and was bought refurbished.
Even the battery compartment is sealed inside the chassis of the machine, which in my mind makes it non-replaceable because it's too difficult for the lay person to get inside the machine. Terrible design, ASUS. I'm sure other manufacturers are doing similar atrocities with their new models.
I'd be happy to pay a shop or someone a modest fee to perform this service. It's a budget laptop which cost $250 so don't want to spend more than $50 on this.
You sure there is a spare RAM slot? The existing 2GB RAM might be soldered onto the motherboard and non user upgradeable.
