  • I can't decide between this and Rock Band 4.

    • Me either, but there's a $140 difference which makes the decision a bit easier.

Do you have a heap of legacy Rock Band DLC on the same ecosystem? (So, PS3 for PS4, or Xbox 360 for Xbone?)

If so, Rock Band 4 is more of the same - not a bad thing - works with most old instruments (an adaptor is required for some Xbox ones) and is gradually allowing you to import most of your old songs at no charge. The new on disc track list for the most part smells of poo though, hence a desire for lots of good older tracks if you bought them.

If you have gone from PS3 to Xbone, or Xbox 360 to PS4 you can;t get your old DLC on the new format.

Meanhwile, Guitar Hero Live is mostly new - no backwards comapability with instruments or DLC. It is presented in first person - you look out at the crowd, and they react depending upon how good (or bad) you are. There's also going to be some form of subscription model allowing access to heaps of songs.

      • If you want to play RB4 on Xbox One you will need to import it because it seems that the distributor isn't going to be importing it over here with the device you need to use your old controllers. I had it on preorder and changed over to Guitar Hero instead because EB won't be stocking the standalone game as it's useless without the adaptor or the new instruments. Bit of a shame really because i have a large back catalog of songs and prefer Rock Band over Guitar Hero :(

    • Had the same dilemma. Got the band in a box rock band 4 set from amazon US for aud380 including standard shipping, should be arriving tomorrow (I ordered 9/oct). For me it was the huge DLC library, along with the drums that swayed me towards rock band. I personally didn't like the live stage setting that guitar hero tried to emulate, the video sequence I watched online seemed cringeworthy, but that's just me.

    FYI,

I went to Target yesterday and it's $109 instore on release (Tuesday). IF you buy from ebay you might not get it until the end of the week
    Big W said $119 also

    • Thanks for this. I was just about to go into EB to pre-order. I dont think theyll match $109

      • Why wouldn't they math $109? They usually do. Just take the catalogue in.

        • Yeah they did match. No hassles at all. Sometimes they dont. I guess its store dependent and how the manager feels on the day

    • yea but you can do cashrewards and get it for around $104.64? postage with target ebay is really fast, well for me it was anyways, ebay said I would be getting it on Wednesday.

      • Or you can click & collect so you don't have to wait for postage and get the cashback rewards. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

target usually send the product to the selected store from their warehouse, you still have to wait

        • Target don't do click and collect on eBay unfortunately…

      • its released on Tuesday, and my delivery eta is wednesday to friday, not a guaranteed Wednesday delivery.

if they guaranteed tuesday delivery, that would be better.

  • Anybody know of any good bundles coming out? I'm after a ps4 with 2 guitars

  • Gone for this, but does anyone know how much a standalone second guitar would be?

i think EB sell them separate for $69.95

  • FYI, same price on Target website, and free delivery, which ends today. But you can also redeem flybuys points, which will bring the price down to $89.

  • For $10 more I'll take my money to BigW. Not gonna support a company that caves in to false information.
