  • seems a bit steep for hosting, but guess you need to recover your development costs from somewhere…

approx. 1200 bux over two years…

    Microsoft based or linux?
does the client get to keep the pages after there plan finishes…
does that price cover commerce? eg a shopping trolley app and payment facilities?

    • yes… the price is factoring in the design and development cost. We are actually making a lost, we are betting on clients continue to use our services after the contract ends.

It is linux servers and the pages remain the property of web fusion plus.
e-commerce websites are a little more expensive due to more maintenance required. please check out website.

There may be additional costs if the customer requires ssl or domain name registration. the customer will keep the domain name.

  • So.. what sort of "website" would this entail? Just a crappy CMS, or can I give you any specifications that I want.. Bit of a vague promotion to run.

    • Their site is Joomla, so would assume the same for clients.

      • pretty big assumption you'd get a CMS-based site for that. I'd expect a flat-file HTML site only.

        • It's easier to make a CMS based site than a static. Wham bam, throw in a few plugins, make a template - done. Much easier than old school lets try and link everything, if they want additional functionality you find 5 existing scripts etc.

      • We use different CMS products, depending on your requirements. We will find one suitable for your needs

    • We will need to first evaluate your proposal and all details will be in the final contract.

      • Great. By the sounds of things thus far, I'd be better off outsourcing to a freelancer.

  • I know quite abit about hosting plans and development costs. $9/Y Domain Name, $100-150/Y Hosting Services, so take that away from the actual cost of the website is $1000? You are not making a loss mate.

    Bad deal IMO.

I could recommend at least 10 better services that at least profile creditable samples of their work.

Not much of a bargain. I charge $75-$100/hr and can make the average 5 page site for under a grand (I'm a specialist developer, design gets outsourced to a variety of designers who charge $200-$400), that's including office, staff, the designer etc plus markup. It doesn't take much time at all, and I make a tidy profit.

So I heavily doubt a one-man show is going to make a loss on $1200 site. In fact, I wouldn't have mentioned it - everyone is in business to make profit. I take the profit I make and buy food, petrol, and other products and services. Then everyone takes that profit and distributes it around… it's not a bad thing to make money.

And you get to keep it, I really detest the whole "you buy it but don't get to own it" type thing - a lot of design firms do that with artwork just to make some more pennies.

But I guess, ask anyone who makes 'websites' and they'll tell you they're the best and everyone else is a sham.

  • For 2 years @ 600. I wouldn't bother

  • I was tempted till I read "the pages remain the property of web fusion plus." fair enough I'd enter into a hosting contract but for the pages to not be mine, just my opinion though.

    • Not sure if this is allowed (I'd guess so, given people say "well xyz has it cheaper" on other threads), but I'd check out these two designers:
      www.minusfront.com
      www.birdandsongdesign.com

They do great work (of course, design is subjective) for a great price. It'd be worth at least getting in touch with either of them if you're thinking about getting a site. In my opinion you'll get a site worth what a lot of agencies charge thousands for for less than a grand depending on your requirements.

  • The trap being yu need to keep paying for something you will never own ie the website , this is unfair as the website should be yours after the contract period, hosting & domain are always lease/rentals anyway

"It is linux servers and the pages remain the property of web fusion plus"

    • Why would you want to keep a 2 year old website? wouldn't you want to redesign your website with a new look and feel?

  • Long time watcher and I signed up today to say how lame this "bargain" is.
Their e-commerce package starts from $79.95 per month (with 2 year contract and $299 early termination fee) and they don't even include a domain name for you! Lame deal of the year.

    • It's not a bad price, $2000 — just not a bargain.

    error 404, bargain not found

  • Like I said on my original post, this is not for everyone. This offer is more for people who are not very technical and don't know how to set up their website.

We are not like offer software company who delivers a final product and leave the customer high and dry. We offer a service, and we are here to support our customers when they need our help.

If you find a better offer then please share with us all… I will be interested to know if there are better deals out there.

Anyways we had quite a response and all the free setup fees have been taken. thank you all.
