who pays for airfares to europe these days?

get to syria, hike through turkey, catch the ferry to greece and make your way up through eastern europe for a free bus or train ride to germany.

no passport, travel insurance, baggage etc. required.

    free meals and accommodation

permanent stay in germany at the end of your trip (save on return airfares).

    • +12

For maximum bargain, make sure to get an ISIS recruiter to contact and convert you so that you get free airfare to Syria. Then when you want to return back to Australia, just reveal your location to the Australian Federal Police and you get a free return trip!

I can't see IWantThatFlight matching this!

      • +8

You won't be getting a return trip from the AFP…but the Americans will give you a personal demonstration of their military hardware.

        • +3

So you get a free return trip to Europe AND a free holiday in Sunny Cuba for 1-20 years?! Eager to see what IWTF offer in retaliation to this!

        • But you might get a return trip in the form of ashes floating over the ocean..

        • +1

Americans will give you a demo, train and arm you but watch out for the Russians.

    Words can't describe!
Cheapest i can find for Dublin is $1077… but that's still SO cheap!
Child flight seems same price?! Can't win them all, I s'pose. Ibfant on lap is free. I was always under the impression child is like half price.

    • Why would a child taking up the same amount of seats cost half the price?

    • +1

Child might be cheaper on a standard fare…but such a low fare would be losing them money no matter who's taking the seat.

    • +3

Children are smaller and require less petrol, food and water. Perhaps not 50% less overall, but certainly less.

      • Have you ever been on a car trip with kids?
Can you elaborate how much petrol you saved compared to taking an adult instead of the kid?
And as far as I know kids (well not infants) get the same meal as adults. Ok, they will not drink alcohol, but they are annoying others, so you got that levelled there.
Getting a discount on airlines is just a good gesture from the airlines. Well… more like a business calculation. With one kid usually there is at least one full paying parent, more than often two. Better to lure those two with cheaper price for a kid than to loose those customers.

    • +2

I flew with Etihad to europe on a sale fare with two kids under 5 a couple of years ago.

Both were 75% fare. Mine was $1300 and theirs were around $970, booking direct with etihad.

It's not an unusual practice for kids to be 75% fare

Pity it's during cold weather :/

      You can go skiing

      • +2

Stuff that! I moved from UK to get away from it.

        • +2

          Skiing is awesome :)

        • @liquid metal:
In November? Seems only recommended at 2000m+ at that time.
Discount flights & expensive skiing don't seem a great fit as a bargain.

        • +1

I've got friends and family who love the snow & skiing, just not for me. I'd rather have heat.

        • @whodidthat: you seem to be my mirror copy! Can't wait to leave Canberra for somewhere in Queensland…

        • @bargainaus: Canberra, frozen to fire in one season.
          Queensland sounds good!

    • Not true?

I got all excited then saw it was for flights before the end of the year, I'm waiting patiently for this sort of price to Amsterdam for next May. I really want to fly someone better than China Southern…. +1 for value regardless.

    • problem is,begger doesn't have a choice….

  • 10 across in economy seating on a 777 - not my idea of fun.

    • Isn't 10 across usual for heaps of airlines?

    • 3-4-3 is a common configuration for most wide-body aircrafts.
If you want fun you can always go to an amusement park - way cheaper :-)
Just kidding, but for those kind of prices what would you expect? You can always pay for business and have much more comfortable flight.
Would cost you roughly the same as what would you paid 40 years ago for an ordinary ticket (in 1970's money).

      • pennies?

    • That must include sitting in the aisles.

    • Emirates 777 is 10 across and is of a reasonable level of comfort. But Malaysia Air A330 much more comfortable 8 across (AirAsia fit in 9 across in their A330)

    • Book two

  • Sorry

Can't seem to find any flights on the indicative prices?

Even if I'm clicking into any of the direct links

Anyone have digestion for actual dates that are priced accordingly

    • Digest this, fairly close to prices…
      eg 3/11-30/11
      SYD-DUBLIN $1063
      SYD-ROME $1093
      SYD-PARIS $1119
      SYD-AMSTERDAM $1078 1 day earlier

First search I did - spat that out.
      Pretty tasty ;-)
But I'll have to chew it over for a while.

    • Yeah I reckon I could stomach it.

  • Any Etihad deals for Dubai ?

    • Etihad = Abu Dhabi. It's only a short bus trip to neighbouring Dubai (and bookable as a normal flight).

      • Thanks 4 your reply. I was asking if there is any deal from Australia (especially Perth) to Dubai..

      • what would you do if you had 24 hrs in abu dhabi go to dubai or stay put

        • For 24 gours i would stay put, maybe 48 hrs would consider the trip

        • Depends if you have travel insurance, but its only a three hour drive…

  • Still waiting for Etihad to put The Residence bookings on sale:
    http://www.etihad.com/en-us/experience-etihad/flying-reimagi…

    • Still waiting to convert my billion-something QFF points to Etihad points

  • Wow… (so poor).

  • for fares to Europe EY's economy fares are always cheaper, but I will give them a pass with their super narrow 3-4-3 777 configuration, I will pay a bit more for better seats.

    • I flew Abu Dhabi to Belgrade with this configuration (I'm pretty sure) and it was quite comfortable, unless you're a particularly wide person I guess, then no economy seat is going to be comfortable

      • my favorite 777 economy airlines are Singapore -> Cathay -> Qatar as they are all 3-3-3 …. for US flights delta's 777 are 3-3-3 too !

trust me most Australian travelers are "wide" …. I just like slightly wider seats as it allows me to tilt more during these long haul flights….

        • If you're traveling with 2, 2-5-2 is manageable as well unless you end up in the middle. How are QF and EQ flights normally configured for routes to Europe?

        • @bozbargain:

QF and EK use A380s which are wider than B777s… with 3-4-3 config.

Book straight through Etihad and use this code: M963PRJ
Saves $100 - cheaper prices than what IWTF offers.

    • +2

Does this warrant a new deal? I can find cheaper than what this deal shows. Don't want to step on tigharse's toes though.

      • +3

…aaaaaaand 1.60% cash back via Cash Rewards!!

        • +1

Yes to posting a new deal mentioning both the $100 off and the cashback.

        • @Spizz:
          Done. Thanks.
