Zalman ZM-RS6F (5.1 Headphones) for $29 Pickup (QLD) or +Delivery from Computer Alliance

90

I was looking for a set of speakers for my computer but came across these, they seemed pretty cheap and none of my usual suppliers could offer anything close in price.

They seemed pretty cheap for $29 (pick-up) while stocks last. I just ordered myself a set. Unsure on quality but seem to get some pretty decent reviews online.

    They STILL make these?

wow these came out at the turn of the millennium

Lol! Computer Alliance is just across the road from the Woolies you said on Thursday I live far far away from involving great hardship to get to… wait for a Logan Road bus, walk down, go in, … walk out, walk back to Logan Road, wait smelling fumes, get back on the bus, pay the extra zone fare etc… when I offered you help finding items in a deal.
Hope the pick up is worth all that effort ;-)

    • -4

But it'd cost me $9 to get them posted or $3.60 return on the bus… plus they are incredibly good headphones (for the price). My time is unlimited but my cash isn't. As you said, the speakers at woolies were a bunch of crap anyway. I also don't need your help finding items 'in a deal'. I am regarded as the guru (on a few facebook pages) and I'm actually starting an online business to exploit that fact.

      • +5

        And so modest and gracious!

      • +1

A self-appointed guru starting an online business.

Are you going to make $352,945 without spending a single cent by using Facebook ads?

Also how did you figure out how to get unlimited time, I'd like your secrets oh internet guru.

        • No… I'll be happy making $10k a year. I'm also not 'self-appointed'. I literally have people now tagging me in posts when they need something cheap. Usually car parts.

I don't have 'unlimited time' per-se. I get 168 hours a week just like everyone else. But I don't have to work (in the usual sense) for my $996 a fortnight.

        • @kronicmacstigator:
Now I wonder how a person "earns" $996/ftn & don't have to work (in the usual sense) ;-)

Of course you will be declaring your new business income to your welfare provider. I assume that is the case. But none of my business.

That can make things tricky, as income will vary. Was advising a handyman in a similar situation yesterday about that & tax matters for small business.

In case people aren't up on welfare payments, that amount is equivalent to a full adult single pension with maximum rent assistance.

We wouldn't guess if you didn't tell us your almost exact income. Best not to do that. You can ask MODs to remove your comment! Mine will also disappear.

I'm sure you have valid grounds for your claim for welfare, so definitely no criticism. I've taught unemployed & gave them work in my old business, provided food & housing to those without it, and also consulted for a Minister of Government & top sports people - makes no difference to me (except the rich paid).

If your online business does well, it may be a path to a successful future.
          Good luck in your venture.

        • @Infidel:

I don't expect to go breaking my $162 a fortnight limit any time soon… I'll notify them when the income stream starts becoming more substantial. They know everything I do anyway and I get treated very well.

I've been forced to buy the headphones because audio is a MAJOR part of the new business and the more platforms/systems I can use to test the better.

        • @kronicmacstigator:
Well it's a business expense in that case, so keep the receipt. I used to take a lot of business trips ;-)

Glad to hear you are being treated very well. My Father receives a DVA pension. On Wednesday, the audiologist asked him if he'd like a free pair of Sennheiser RS195 wireless headphones ($600 on eBay!)… a new toy for me ;-)

You never know how successful your business can get… until you give it a go.

I set up a business when I was a uni student many years ago, from my dorm room. Before long I was making $50(tutoring) -$82(uni lecturing) -$250(my own classes)/hr when my friends were on $5. Then had consulting work with the uni, lectured & designed uni courses, my own large uni office & department secretary… all with no real experience or degree. I just found my niche.

I was good at what I did & went on to teach that process to already successful people. But only my clients understood that. To others I was just another lazy student :-)

Now I travel up to 9 months per year & keep the brain ticking over occasionally on OzBargain. I've taught for free in ethical business in poor counties like Myanmar & helped people there set up their own businesses. But, I've hardly ever worked.

          Enjoy your opportunity.

@Infidel: i read all this because i like to see how people get worked up over nothing but honestly how is all this crap relevant to the post? :p

        • @bbyboy:
Your choice to read it ;-)
That's why comments are structured this way - so you can skip issues you're not interested in. Sometimes saves a lot of time ;-)

Absolutely nothing to do with deal, but almost no one is discussing it any way.

There is far more off than on topic. But, off topic chat had finished many hours ago, until you raised it as an issue ;-)

Computer Alliance store is fairly close to both the OP & me. Hence the not too serious dig at start.

No one is worked up, just chatting & giving OP some encouragement for the new venture. It can be hard living without a nice income that many receive.

Totally off topic & can be collapsed / removed by request to mod as I suggested to OP. Just click Report under comment.

        • @bbyboy:
As no one was bothered enough to report as off topic 16 hours after your comment, I reported it.
It's always easier to do something about it by reporting than discussing it further.

  • February 2005 was the first review on Amazon for these :)

A quick look shows these are the Zalman ZM-RS6F+M. They differ from the Zalman ZM-RS6F in that they are analogue only and are plugged into a soundcard output. Whether you get sufficient volume is another matter. You will need to sit within 3 metres of your sound card outputs.
The Zalman ZM-RS6F come with a USB 'sound card' which powers the headphones.
Check http://www.quietpc.com/zm-rs6fplusm for some brief reviews.
Still, a good buy for a niche market.

    • Thanks for being nice, I figured it made a change from all these tinny 2.0 $10 specials from Officeworks. I figured being plugged into the back of a computer would be the intended use for most people anyway.

  • how does it compare to ath-m50x

this one is better because its $29. troll question right?
