I am doing some travelling next year, starting with 3 weeks in Japan (have been before) and thought after not recording any video at all previously I could maybe do it the easy way.
I saw a Go Pro and a handy chest strap thing. There's even other videos of people doing the same in Japan even and it seems to work fantastic. I'm not doing any thrill seeking but would love to have raw footage as a memory of what I saw and did.
I guess the main thing I am concerned about is, wanting to film so much, I'd likely need a camera with removable batteries and memory cards.
Any tips on the best fit for that? And if there is one, do they then get too big for a chest mount?
I might start with that, but would appreciate any suggestions and feedback.

You can definitely go for gopro. Their sizes are pretty great and have a lot of accessories to fit for different needs.
If you really like filming, i will suggest you to get at least silver edition for gopro.
Other popular options are sony action cam, htc re and sjcam.
There quite a lot of brands and models that I cant mention as well.
sjcam usually are recommended as the cheaper alternative for gopro but their video quality are so so to me.
However their accessories used to work with gopro's accessories.
Most of them have removable batteries and memory cards slot.
