    Item location: Taiwan

So it's grey import with 12 months warranty. It cost over $60 to send it back for repair or to get a refund if DOA.

    • +2

paypal is offering free return shipping, incase you don't know…

AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMERS CAN RETURN THEIR ITEM TO SYDNEY. WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH LOCAL WARRANTY SERVICES!

Mobiles / Tablets / Laptops will have to be returned to overseas warehouse for service.

        • +3

It just mean they dont repair it here in OZ. They take care of the returned to overseas part for you. You only have to return it to their warehouse in Australia.

    • Repairs also are done at their location in Sydney.

    • Oh no… Grey import!!!

Let's pay double for manufacturer warranty!

      • love my grey market S5 ……… funny how we a group on ozbargain that think a lot of phones will fail and don't want grey, and another that hunts for cheap Chinese phones with poor band coverage that has to be sent back to China for warranty.

only challenge with grey is getting the right model so it has our 4G bands.

number of failed or doa phones must be very small …..

    • Btw if you bothered to read the item description, you would see they have a free pickup service in the event of DOA within 24 hours

  • So tempting

  • would take the zenfone at half price in a heartbeat

  • +1

    resist, must

    • zen phone doesn't cover all the Australian 4G bands

  • Damn it ! Now I don't know if I should get the G4 or this..

    • +1

G4 for sd and removable battery….

      • +1

id go for this, iv had the g3, it was a better design than the g4, much better curved form, and slightly smaller form factor…. the white face was great, where as now all the faces on the g4 are black… with white backs, i dont like that.

i never swapped the battery but i did use the sd card.

        • the white face was great, where as now all the faces on the g4 are black… with white backs, i dont like that.

          nocontext

          :)

    • probably this, i received mine last week. it's been great, better than their previous phones.

    • +1

From geekaphone.com and many other comparisons on YouTube, the s6 is a winner so long as 32gb is enough storage. Which for many people will be (myself included)

      • +1

Yeah but with this you also get touchwiz and a core that nobody making cyanogenmod can be bothered supporting.

        • TouchWiz is honestly good on the S6. It's not amazing or great, but it is good. If it bothers you, use NovaLauncher.

        • +1

          @smileymiwo:
          The launchers are not enough!

        • +1

          @RI4V4N:

Yeah launchers only help the ui. Doesn't take away reloading of apps or lag when switching between apps. 5.1.1 did improve things on my note 4, so with the exrtra power of the exynos chip it probably a lot better. If the battery is as bad as my G4 then I wouldn't want the s6 anyhow.

        • @Ronnnie: Reloading of apps?

        • @Diji1: Poor memory management. For example. In browser switch to massaging app and browser would be killed and would need to be reloaded when you switch back. There are some fixes especially if you root. But its still not good enough. Makes the 3gb of ram useless.

Couple that with poor battery life and random wakelock issues. The software drivers are crap so anything like wifi, bluetooth can drain the battery life excessively more than what you'll expect. Makes a really disappointing phone.

        • @ko0l:

Yes it's a well document issue. It's so bad in speed tests the G4 sometimes will end up beating the Samsung because the Samsung waste time reloading all previous apps that the LG doesn't have to. Example here:
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5mRrAkCiV8

It really surprised me how much better the LG is at just switching between apps say browsing or checking a message while playing a game there's pretty much no waiting. Where with Samsung there could be a lot of waiting switching back and forwards. 5.1.1 has improved things but it still hasn't improve memory management on the Samsung.

        • @Ronnnie: It's Samsung messing up LMK setting (in short, what Samsung have done is they made the setting that kills off apps overzealous with killing off apps, LMK setting kicks in and shuts the app down after the no. of background app reachs 6). If you ask me, it's stupid because Samsung is not using the advantage they have with the hardware, but that said, I've seen fixes on that on XDA that requires root access (I am expecting an official fix on this on Marshmallow).

        • @Oversimplified:

If I have to wait 10 seconds for an app to reload or the screen become unresponsive while switching apps, I describe that as lag. The responsiveness has improved on 5.1.1, but apps still need reloading quite often.

        • @Ronnnie: I realised my mistake (what I was meant to say was lag in all situations and then I realised that getting rid of that would make it flow better) and I was editing it. Yes, I do admit that Samsung f!@#ed up a big time with LMK setting, but that said, as long as the number of the background apps stay below 6, LMK setting do not kick in (at least that's what I've read). That's what is causing the refresh on the apps (basically device is killing off background apps too vigorously, making you to reload). I don't think it's irreversible since I've seen fixes that just require you to have root access (which is unreasonably stupid, since all you need to do is touch up few things in build.prop, in other words, it's really simple to fix it).

I've heard that it might be Samsung trying to be overzealous with the battery life, or it might be Samsung messing up a big time with ART, that said, I still don't understand the reason on why they've set the setting that stupidly. I am expecting a fix, possibly when they roll out a major update, as I said, it to me doesn't look like an issue that's irreversible.

        • @Oversimplified:

Yeah they have, and I would go Samsung over LG based on hardware any day. Hopefully they resolve the issue when they update to Marshmallow. Yeah you are probably right, if you keep closing apps in the background the performance on Sammy aren't that bad. On the G4 that isn't a concern though. :)

        • @Ronnnie: I cannot vouch for the quality of the LG software (My gf's G2 had problems with keyboard that disappeared with CM, system reset or flashing official ROM again didn't fix the problem completely). That said, LG actually did decent job with Lollipop as far as I could see (RAM issues with 5.0.1. were less severe than Samsung one). They are doing well with software supports as well.

Though that said, LG phones to me are like, they are good on paper. If I were to get one however, the things I've heard about them and things I've seen with my own eyes make me avoid them (mainly hardware issues, though G4 seems to have gotten rid of most of the problems I've heard with the older G series). That said, G4 is one tier down S6 in terms of hardware. I frankly weigh hardware more, if LG released a phone with something comparable to Exynos 7420 and if they released it like a flagship (i.e. no cost cutdown like using Gorilla Glass 3, not including QC 2.0 compatiable chargers), I would hold more generous view on G4 (though what I've heard and seen would probably mean I'd still be hesistant). One of the reasons why I hold rather positive view on V10 than on G4.

          I should stop digressing :P

        • @Oversimplified:

I agree with you that the Samsung hardware lot nicer. I went with note 4 mainly for the stylus, but found I hardly use it anyhow, and TW performance was pissing me off. Qualcomm chips have been poor this year, next year they should hopefully be on a level playing field with s820. I'd like to go with the better hardware all the time too, but if the software isn't right then it doesn't matter how good the hardware is. I have been really surprised at how good the performance the G4 is. I don't know about other LG phones, always heard they were laggy pos. The V10 looks like a good phone too, but is hampered by the s808 as well. I like that phone because of the DAC being used, and if the sound quality output is significantly better I may consider replacing my G4 with one when they are <$500. :P

        • @Ronnnie: I've heard that the sound output is good (it can drive fairly high end headphonesn with high impedance, so I've heard), if these rings any bells to you, the chips used for audio solution are apparently ESS Sabre 9018C2M and ESS Sabre 9602C (long live copy and paste).

    • Just last week i tried my friend's G4. Photo quality really lacking. Both pixel peep, HDR quality, and night photo, S6 hands down win. With normal browsing/yt battery life also S6 was superior. Don't start with processing/responsiveness.

Really only go to G4 if you really need removable battery and/or SD card.

    • G4 for replaceable battery, micro SD expansion, larger screen.

S6 got the smaller size, and camera.

(Personally I'd go for the s6. I've been fine with my Nexus (no replaceable battery nor memory expansion), and just want the best camera).

I'm waiting for the s6 to go down further! Or even the s5, which is still expensive in my opinion!

Just note that it's missing the 850MHz (B5) LTE band for Vodafone

    • Thank you!

    • i am using vodafone, no issues at all…

      • I'm assuming that you would be using the available 3G bands not 4G

        • Naa. It works 4G. When I am not in WiFi.

        • +1

@viki8702: Beats me, Good that it works though!

        • Vodafone has 2 bands 850 and 1800 s6 only supports 1800. 1800 is usually used for cobcentrated populated areas. While 850 is used for far reaching coverage. 8 0 definitely comes in to good use while you are travelling.

    • Confirmed using 4G no problem with Voda.

    • +1

      http://www.willmyphonework.net

1800MHz is supported which Vodafone also use

  • that seams like a very very cheap price???!?!? whats up!?

does it do optus band 4g the new one?

  • So can't claim TRS with this one?

    • +5

Well you're not paying GST are you..

      • +1

        Right.. haha. my bad :D

    • You are paying no GST to begin with on this deal, so there's zero GST to claim back. :)

  • Would this work on the new Telstra 4G bands?

    • +1

To answer my own question - yes it works on the new Telstra 4G.

  • +2

Sick mate what a price, I thought I got a deal of the century when I landed this for $620 in June this year, makes me want to buy this again as I need one for my left ear.

  • +2

Is there a dual sim version offer? And opinions of downside to dual sim to std one?

  • Gosh, tempting. when the Nexus 6 was the same price it would be a tough competition, but saving ~110 on the Nexus still makes it more appealing.

    • +1

Mate the Nexus 6 has nothing on the S6, besides the Android updates.

      • Well for me the Samsung software is a bit of a negative. I know I can work around it with launchers and stuff I'd just prefer not to have to. I do agree though, the S6 is a quality piece of kit.

        • +2

Launchers are just the face. Touch whizz comes with preinstalled apps which run in the background. Cant be diabled unless you root.
Btw sorry i negged ur comment by mistake. Tried revoking but doesn't work

        • @cipher: There's an app called package disabler which claims to disable a lot of Samsung bloatware without root.

        • @cipher:

Touch wizs pre installed apps CAN be disabled (where did you hear otherwise?), thus preventing them from running in the background, FYI!

Also Nexus comes with preinstalled bloat too, namely Google's bloat. Play Magazine, Play Games, Photos to name a few. (But yeah, these are probably better than Microsoft bloat you get with Galaxies)

  • Thanks OP! According to www.willmyphonework.net/ all major carriers will work.

    • You're very welcome. Enjoy!

  • Has anyone got a s6 from this vendor. Hows the packaging and the chargers that they send. Also whats the usual delivery time.

    • I had chat with seller. Handing time is 2 business days before shipping. Packaging is opened by Samsung Taiwan apparently but resealed with another sticker by Samsung. Delivery for Perth was approximately 27th October.

    • +1

I got mine yesterday. All packaging was genuine and (to my eyes) sealed. The charger was genuine too. In fact, the phone and the charger had brand new packaging. Nothing to complain at all.

    • I previously purchased a S5 from them and it was perfect, the box was not even opened! (Or was resealed by Samsung?) But I do recommend this seller since I just purchased this to replace the S5.

  • +1

that's… actually was a great price.

The black one is still in stock. I think i got the last gold one!

Edit: same with the white one

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Samsung-Galaxy-S6-SM-G9208-Fa…

Seems like the seller is changing the price to 6500?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Samsung-Galaxy-S6-SM-G920I-32…

  • Got a black, hope my partner appreciates it!

  • seems to be still in stock?

  • Any problems with these being a Chinese version?

    • According to http://www.willmyphonework.net/, it will work with all carriers. May come with Chinese language pre-installed though but can't confirm until mine arrives. I assume you can just use English only, but the Chinese language stuff might not be removable from stock rom.

      • Has anyone confirmed with the seller if these come with the Chinese language pre-installed? and if so is it possible to remove it if it is? Are there alternate rom's for this phone?

  • Can anyone please advise whats the difference between this version and the one sold by Kogan?? I assume both would have been grey imports with 1 year Australian warranty?

  • So tempting…

  • 920i is the one samsung bring into australia, if you have a different model thay dont support all our bands and also samsung cant service as they dont keep parts for other models

  • Iam reading price as $669???

  • Yeh you need to add coupon cwedding20 ad the product to cart then apply coupon at checkout to make sure it works

  • Beware of the revised term and condition by e-Bay on this code ending tonight instead of 20 October.
    http://pages2.ebay.com.au/Buyer_coupons/wedding20

This offer commences at 14.00 (AEDT) on 15 October 2015 and ends at 23.59 (AEDT) on 16 October 2015 (“Offer Period”).

  • They had the edge on this sale 64gb version for $90 more is that better value or would this one be?

    • +1

I have the edge, go for the s6

  • Took the plunge and bought it, had an s4 since it released so its going to be awesome to get a new phone after so long, cant wait!!!

  • Juz bought one…first time buying grey imports..hope it will b ok

  • Got mine 2 days ago really fast postage has Chinese language

  • Got mine yesterday as well. The box looked unopened at first with sticker on both side, but sticker came off really easily.

Saw one or two finger print on screen cover and also it wasn't in factory reset when I turned it on for first time. Is this normal?

cause when I bought S5, edge etc for my family (AU telco stock) it always go to language selection menu to set thing up but it was already set up with Chinese language.

    • Mine was Chinese language but I just did a reset and start from scratch setting up in English.

  • Chinese language here too, didn't think to do a reset, just changed all of the language and keyboard settings to English. Only thing that remains in Chinese is some of the samsung galaxy apps - is this the same for everyone else? I assume they are taiwin centric…

  • My wife's just got updated to 5.1.1 - finally
