I dropped into Repco to ask if they had any specials on Batteries. They gave me this discount voucher.
Says it is in all stores this Sunday.

+1 because you successfully upset JV!
I went to repco hoping to get some discounts on somethings after seeing their last "discount" (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/214680).
I compared their prices to SCA and it was about 33% (rough guesstimate) more expensive to buy at Repco with the sale than at SCA without the sale. So I don't believe 25% is going to do much but worth shopping around.
damn..as JV said, it states on the voucher that it excludes discounted items…they've got quite a few car care products on discount starting from today and was hoping I can get further disc ;)
Best to check your local store opens Sunday - mine is closed :-(
Bought car battery at a 30% off sale cheaper than SCA on its sale.
Im intending to get the biggest and most juicest battery I can get that will fit under my Landcruiser Prado (Spare Battery area) for future camping needs.
Is there a better place to get them cheaper than this deal, and anyone recommend what battery and crank to get? (Base Budget)If you ever want to use the spare battery to start the car, then it'll need to be a car battery. However a lower-rated battery can be used to recharge your car's main battery, if your car's battery is merely flat, and not damaged.
If it will never be used as the main battery to start a car, then you are better off NOT getting a car battery. Car batteries have thick electrodes to handle the high current of starting (typically over 500 Amps!). Thick electrodes weigh a lot, and take up room inside the battery that could be used for the electricity-producing chemicals. So if you buy a battery with a lower current rating, it will usually store more energy in the same volume, and weigh less.
Also think about how you're going to charge the second battery. You shouldn't just connect it in parallel with your car's main battery, you want it to disconnect when the engine isn't running, so you can't accidentally flatten your main battery when camping. There is a voltage problem too, as the long wires to the second battery will make it difficult to fully charge the second battery (13.8V at your main battery will translate to a lower voltage at the secondary battery, there will be a voltage drop along the wires). I believe you can get specialised chargers for second batteries that fix the above problems. Or you could not connect it to you car's system and use a mains charger - but don't forget to give it a top-up charge every 2 to 3 months, or you'll end up with a dead battery.
Check pradopoint.com for full discussions on dual battery systems. I use an optima yellow myself.
Nothing wrong with my main battery HOWEVER I have flattened in for more stupid reasons than I would like to admit. (Car is basically a drivable entertainment system for the kids)
I am about to renew my RACQ and only reason I have used them in years is flat battery so thinking a spare batter is better value for future reasons. Will not be linked to exdisting Battery but has anson plug to rear for other stuff. Also have solar panels to put on roof.
It will need to jump my existing battery more often than I would like though. So any ideas based on that info..
No it's not, it excludes discounted items and quite a few other items.
