My partner needs a new phone as she is sick of her old Nokia Windows phone. I was thinking to get a Google Nexus 5 as that's what I've got and it's been a great phone over the past couple of years. I'm wondering if there is anything you guys would recommend before I search for a good price on the Nexus 5?
Budget is probably around $350 - $400 max.

I'm personally liking the new motorola phones… I think if you stretch your budget a bit more, you have get a moto x play for roughly <$500 outright from voda or go on a plan. Either way, the moto x play isn't that bad a phone from the specs perspective.
This. The Moto X Play will be coming as outright purchase once the Vodafone exclusivity is over. Approx $560ish mark (hopefully lower).
