mobile recharge voucher and SIM cards no longer count towards EverydayReward spend goals?

I got an email targeted offer, $100 reward to 4 weeks each with a transaction > $90 and followed up. In the end I didn't qualify. I called to ask why. The everyday rewards hotline staff said that I didn't qualify because the fine-print has "gift card excluded", and one of the purchase contain $20 amaysim recharge.

Then I dig out a previous offer early this year with the same fine print, where amaysim recharge is counted towards reward. So at last early this year an amaysim recharge wasn't a gift card.

Then he founds that one of the transaction contain a $30 starter kit SIM card.

I do not recognize SIM card start-kit as gift card. Is there anything I can refer to so I know for sure it is a gift card or not? Quick Google search revealed nothing relevant.

I carefully avoided gift cards in participating this offer.

Thanks.

  • well on the bottom of the receipt it did say if u qualified or not.

    • useful info! I didn't pay attention. Thanks!

  • +1

A sim starter pack is a product not a gift card.

Next they'll say that fruit and vegetables are gift cards.

  • I've participated in many of these targeted offers and i had always qualified when i bought starter kits, recharges even Opal topups, these things are definitely not gift cards, but i always bought them in conjunction with other "groceries" just in case. I think they're telling you fibs.

    • I did 20$ recharge and one $30 start kit amount other groceries to make up $400+ . Thanks for letting me know. I'll try calling them.

  • Looks like they are just making up an excuse not to pay up. I received the spend 4x$50 get $100 offer and spent the required amount entirely on groceries but still did not qualified. I sent them all the receipts but still haven't heard back.

  • "Selected services" are also excluded, however I couldn't find a listing of which services are included in the "selected services" and I get the impression that the services change from offer to offer.

I think using a term like "selected services" or similar is quite deceitful and confusing. I think you should be entitled to the discount or a gift card or points in lieu of this.

    Good luck getting your reward

  • I called again today.

First he said that my purchase disqualify because only groceries are counted.
Then he said that alcohol, gift cards and mobile services are excluded.

I mentioned the small print says "selected services" not "mobile services", and the same mobile phone recharge I bought with the same quantity in August counted in. I am afraid that he didn't capture this message so he repeated the previous statements.

I decide to give up. I believe this is what happened: EverydayReward IT guys found out that mobile recharges were used to reach spend goals, and since they didn't get enough commission from mobile phone companies, they "fixed" this issue silently between august and october, and serivce people were allowed to explain it in anyway that calms customers. They probably excluded SIM start-pack for the same reason.

What they could have done better, is to let customers knows a transaction otherwise would qualify didn't for a reason, by using email or using additional message on the receipt slip. Beyond that, in cases such as mine, where only a small percentage is recharge voucher, support line staff should be able to manually override the decision.

This is the first time the support line stuff says mobile doesn't count (instead of "mobile is gift card"), so it's probably their new game rule. I changed the subject of this discussion to be informative on the new game rule.

    • I found this from an old promo.

Selected services (including delivery charges, internet cafes, hire fees, movie rental)

      • emmmh, current version doesn't include the bracket, but truly mobile wasn't in the bracket.
