Should I buy a DXRACER chair? Or Good deals on other Good chairs

Hi People

In the last 3 weeks of uni and my chair just broke.
I'm sick to death of POS computer chairs that are cooking my neck and back, so I need something nice that will last.

So is anybody aware of any good deals out there?

I keep seeing these DXracer chairs and think I'm going to buy one but before I do can anybody chirp in and offer me any advice >$400 is a lot for a chair so I want to be happy. Are they as comfy as the reviews? has anybody got anything bad to say about them? I know its important to check how wide your legs are for the arm rests, but is there anything else?

Ergohuman V1 seems to be another option, are there any others that you would recommend?

Thanks Fam

Go in store and check out the Bathurst Chair at Officeworks - I decided against a DXRacer in favour of the cheaper OW Chair, and it's seriously great. Definitely glad I saved myself about $200.

If you would of seen the picture on a facebook PC gaming page of that exact chair with the side part cracked in half you wouldn't buy it.

btw i have the same chair and wouldn't recommend it.

      • sorry to hear youve had an experience like this :( had mine for 6 months, and love it. must be quality control, some better off than others.

  • Buro metro…great deals in Sepember! Watch out for coupons(Staples/Officemax)

I was shopping for a good computer chair for months. It was time to replace my dying Ergo Elite mesh chair from Milan Direct (bought it late 2010), which I paid about $400 for.

    I considered the following:
    - Ikea Markus ($400) - Well recommended online, hated the way it looked, didn't feel nice enough to sit on
    - Ikea Volmar ($450) - Newer product with fewer reviews. Really liked the way it looked, but felt unforgiving to sit on
    - DX Racer or AK Racing chair - particularly the AK Racing Premium V2 ($440 without delivery) - I was really close to getting this
    - Ergohuman (Got my V2 on eBay for $620 delivered, after the recent eBay promo which got me a $100 discount)
    - Second-hand Herman Miller Aeron ($800?)

I just received (and am currently sitting on) my new "Ergohuman V2" (notice the quotation marks). There aren't any official retailers of Ergohuman chairs in Australia. www.ergohuman.com is the website of the official US manufacturer. Every other site the sells it in Australia is selling a fake Ergohuman chair. That said, I'm very happy with my fake Ergohuman. It is a lot better than my previous chair. There are actually online reviews of these fake Ergohuman chairs. This is a really comfy chair for me.

I decided on the Ergohuman mainly because it was a mesh chair. In summer, I knew I would regret buying any PU or leather chair. Even the cloth chairs will absorb sweat. The Ergohuman is a lot more customizable in terms of seating position, so if ergonomics is the reason you're shelling out this much money for a chair, then this makes more sense to get.

    • You spent $620 on a fake chair?

You could have gotten a herman miller or steelcase leep and at least you get a 12 year warranty with it for the extra cost.

      • Yep. Though fake, they do actually come with a 10 year warranty. People have managed to claim warranty from the seller (not sure how far into ownership though). Seller does have an ABN. 10 year warranty does rely on the retailer staying in business for 10 years though =P

The last Aeron deal reported on OzBargain was for $1100 in 2014. There's never been a reported deal on steelcase leaps.

Aerons start around $1500 minus delivery (Living Edge).

Actually, I couldn't find a retailer for Steelcase Leaps in Australia. Last quote (based on a Whirlpool forum post) was $1100 minus delivery, but this was from way back in 2009.

I reckon if you want best value for money, be patient and try your luck with second hand chairs on Gum Tree and eBay. Probably not for OP, as he said his chair is broken. I decided against this option too because I wasn't confident I would be able to spot a fake from genuine Aeron. Also, after factoring in transport costs (most of these 2nd hands are pick-up only), it didn't seem worth it. Second hand Aerons are usually around $600 - $900, with varying conditions.

        • You should be able to get an aeron for around $1350 I think.

I got my herman miller embody for $1650.
