Officeworks - Lowest Price Guarantee

Hi,

Does anyone know whether Officeworks would require a physical copy of the competitor's catalogue or I can just point them to the competitor's website?

Thanks

You can usually point them to the website, they just need the phone number of the shop selling the item at the cheaper price, and they will call and confirm that the item is infact cheaper at that particular shop. I would bring the phone numer of the place to save time.

If they only sell online and have no storefront your best bet is to print out the page and give it to them.
I dont know if they dont pricematch online prices??

  • Thanks mate, I saw this printer that's cheaper on the Good Guys catalogue but I don't have a physical copy. I do know that they have catalogue available online hence my question.

    • Yeah, they will price match no worries!

      Glad to help

  • I think it shouldn't be any problem as long as it's not a stock liquidation and Good Guys have it in stock. I've had them price match Umart. Also, if a Good Guys store is nearby you should be able to pick-up a hard copy of their catalogue in store.

  • Good guys have their catalogue online.

  • I tried to price match a printer once and the guy at officeworks told me if I was price matching, the price of shipping the printer (like $60) from the online store would be added to the price as well. So ended up not being worth it. This happen to anyone else?

    • In my case the 'online' store was 2 km down the street and offered local pickup.

It's always been (for me, at least) that unless the store's local in town, then Officeworks will add on the cost of shipping for the item. So, if it's a local store like say Kmart, then Officeworks has needed the physical catalog or printout, and if it's been an online store, then they've required a printout of the product page, plus a printout of the shipping details. I've not had them question or call up a store regarding a physical catalog yet, and they've only just started recently checking online if the store has stock & if the price is legit.

That said, things have previously depended on who was working at the time doing the matching. I've had people honour the price match with me saying shipping was free (eg the Dell online store) and other people who don't both to check if the price is current. Guess it depends on who you have doing the price matching for you and how eager/lazy they are…

  • It's probably fair enough for them to add the shipping cost as the cost of the product.

  • I have had mixed response from OW. Except for one person at a particular store, who has always been going extra mile for the customer service, you get what you get.

Although, current days printout including the checkout screen showing my postcode and the shipping cost has always been sufficient. If the shipping is free or it is a local store (I am from Melbourne, so anything in Melbourne is local).

Once I had called up the call centre, the person there wanted a telephone number of an online store to check if the online store had any stock availble. She would not listen that the online store was showing stock in the shopping cart. As the particular online store did not have any telephone number, I contacted my local store. They price matched it. They were really nice. The online deal was coming to an end at 12.00 noon, and I couldn't have got to the store until the end of the day. They honoured the commitment in the evening, although I had the printout from before the deal expired. It was a Lumix DM TZ7. OW had it for $688, and they gave it to me for $468, after price match.

    So there you go.
