how does it compare to aldi ones?

    seems pretty expensive

also how good is this for cleaning cars?
    will it strip paint?

      will it strip paint?

Only if you fill the detergent tank with hydrochloric acid.

I have both. To sum up the k2.4 is much better in performace and cleaning capability (greater water output) and actually strips stuff like dirt off the alfresco and stuff off cars. In saying that I did damage an area of car paint by standing too close - visibly lighter. And now I think abt I did ruin a mesh mat by using the jet setting - completey ripped it up like a knife. But both due to lack of common sense.

The aldi one I feel is much much more gentle. As a general everyday cleaning too that saves some water it does fine. But at times I still need to get my hands dirty and scrub scrub scrub.

Neither karcher or aldi one has failed me so cant comment on reliability. But performance wise karcher wins just dont use it too closely.

      • so it some ways, the more powerful karcher can be more dangerous..

At least aldi one, the price is much cheaper and should the odd cleanup job and safe on cars.

        how much was aldi one?

        • Yeh you can say it can be more dangerous but you can also say that the aldi one falls short when you really need it to do some serious work.

I use the karcher for the roof, high walls, car rims, unclogging the 100m sewer pipe under the house (yes its strong enough to do it), really dirty things I dont want to scrub myself, car when its really really dirty (extra water output makes a huge difference) etc.

Aldi one for the car mainly on most weekends. Oh and patio + floors cos the attatchment was $10. Yeh thats about it.

But cant really compare the two, aldi one was around the $90 mark.

        • Oh there is something I realised thats good for the aldi one. I baby my karcher, keep it out of the sun, not over running it, ensuring its saturated before turning on the motor, draining it, packing it away.

With the others I use it, abuse it, run it for hours, then just leave it where it is in the sun….Its still working.

  • Need to know what the pump is made of before dropping that kind of cash. Does seem expensive still. But it's good if it has a brass pump.

karcher IMO is a dodgy brand despite it being so renowned. Bought a k4xx series for my dad for Father's Day and it died within a week of the 12month warranty ending. It's bad luck for my dad, but browsing whirlpool revealed that his experience wasn't exclusive.
I'd love to hear from someone who has owned an electric pressure washer for more than a couple of years AND it hasn't died.

    • My mate said there crap also, he used it for cleaning roofs, he had 2-3 that let him down , he said don't buy karcher there a hunk of junk.

I thought they were good as their not not cheap.

I have had my base model karcher for about 6 years now and still going strong

      • Ditto and i treat it with zero respect.

      • Ditto. It probably get used once a month in anger in the past 6 years, 2-3 hours at a time and store in not so ideal conditions. The only thing I hate about it is the hose length.

Kinda wish it failed on me sooner or later to justify getting a new one.

    • Gerni's supposedly better due to the pump's construction.

    • I agree, I have bought two, father also bought two. All failed with not a lot of work being used on them (drive and deck a few times a year, two years later they fail). Would never buy a again.
Bought Gerni 3 years ago for around the same price and not had a single problem. Bought the model that has the deck cleaning attachment - that is fantatsic for timber decks and concrete/pebble drives.

    • Thanks for the responses!

  • What's wrong with just using the garden hose to clean the car? I see those as a hassle to get an extension cord and lug this around. Happy to be convinced otherwise

    • I agree, never used one to wash a car, too much hassle but parents do use one to wash their vehicle - I dont see that it cleans it any better than hose/bucket and sponge.

There's a Hitachi AW130 at Masters with better specs for $20 dollars more.

    • 1885 PSI
    • 6L Per Min Flow Rate
    • 1600W Motor
    • Hose length: 10 m

I bought one last week and have been impressed so far; being able to write your name on your driveway pavers is always fun.

      Thanks for the tip. :)

Don't forget the Masters 10% off promo code SUPERS10 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/213125 brings the price of that down to $206.10 so is actually a few dollars less.

The 10% off code is currently valid and has been valid since at least Monday last week so i do hope you took advantage of it to be a true Ozbargainer when you bought this pressure washer last week from Masters. It is a $22.90 saving back in the pocket.

  • Oh and the 4% cash back too!!

    • Can you clarify what cash back? Is it for SupercheapAuto or other stores?

      • Whoops, this was supposed to be a reply to the thread above!

  • Thanks, lovebargain87! Bought it with the $20 off the already reduced priced. Am happy with the performance.
