  • Hmm.. So this vs the MB2360?

    • +2

I chose this for the larger XL cartridges and the duplex scanning capability

      • 2360 also has XL cartridges.

$43 to 59 is much better value than this one

  • Surely at that sort of price you'd start looking at a laser printer?

    • Any colour laser in this price point will cost more per page to print, the Maxify seems pretty economical based on the figures

      • -2

        Is that a joke?

        • Well it wasnt supposed to be, I should have prefaced that based on my own observations. I did look for a colour laser, but didn't find anything with duplex, duplex scanning that was economical to run compared to this (which are supposed to be around 2.3c for black and 12.2c for colour - if you pay full retail for cartridges) - this is a whole lot better than the HP Colour LaserJet M276nw I have now (which is going back due to a fault) where the cost per page for colour is somewhere around 28c for colour)

But if you do know of something suitable, please let me know - I can still cancel this order

        • @Mr_P: How or where do you find out the cost per page for different printers? I was always under the impression that lasers were always cheaper per page than inkjet

        • @portard:

I googled it.. I used to think that as well, but quite a few of the new range of inkjets are proving to be very economical to run - there is a new Brother coming out that works out to be less than 1c per page in black I believe.

You can do a simple check by looking at the cost of cartridges - the HP I have is $400 for a set of toner, the Canon works out to be around $185 with XL cartridges - both have a 1200 page count apparently

        • @Mr_P:

you are forgetting inkjets waste a lot of ink just to do cleaning and deep cleaning
and gets clogged if you don't regularly use it.

that's one of the reason why I am waiting for a good color laser printer deal
my own inkjet is clogged no matter how much deep cleaning i do.

The prints just look crap now.

        • @tyler.durden:
It's clogged becos u r probably using a non-genuine ink cartridge. There's ways to clean blocked nozzles, have a search around.

My canon MP640 is still going strong after so many years…and I've watched my non-genuine inks drop substantially in price to less than $0.80 per cartridge from ebay…lol…best investment of a printer in my eyes…I can afford to print stuff and do lots of deep cleaning without worry.

        • @siu_loong_bao:

          already did it.
          i seen the videos..

but it still does not work properly.

          ==
you are dreaming if u think blocked is due to non genuine ink.
I can see u buying full price for genuine ink and getting ripped off.

          Ink is ink…

the reason is blocked is cos I don't print that much..

        • @siu_loong_bao:
My DAD refilled the BC-02 cartridges for the BJC200 full size and the compact one from the cartridge shop from a 1L/500ml/50ml printing for his accounting practice
Printed off his Toshiba Satellite t300

He ran cannon printers then "because they didn't foul with aftermarket inks like other such as HP"
when he did get a laser it was a Kyocera fs1000 based on the cost efficiency over the long term and that is where I got the Spirit that attracted me to this forum

PS I'm not sure if they changed their formula since

        • @tyler.durden:

read my comments in full…never bought a genuine ink in my life for my Canon MP640.

        • @siu_loong_bao:

          how often do u print?

          does it get clogged?

          ===

I just don't print enough, sometimes in months

        • @tyler.durden: "Ink is ink…"

And toilet paper is toilet paper. But don't complain when Homebrand scratches your arse or your finger goes through it when whiping because you thought Sorbent was a rip off.

I've had my IT students do a report into it for their assessment after the arguement came up in class and even the "ink is ink" students had to bow to the fact that ink isn't ink - viscosity and chemical composition seemed to be the main culprit. If the ink is thicker or thinner, the head has to work differently.

Cheap engine oil vs specific engine oil
Vegetable oil vs olive oil vs peanut oil - very different cooking properties
Cordial - adding too much or too little water - concentration of ingredients

These are basic examples of where the slightest change can make a massive difference.

I could spend an hour discussing but the result is - genuine ink wins. Yes the ink PRICE is more, but the long term COST is less over the life of the printer.

My ip5000 bought in…. about 2004… is still printing strong and it can go over a year without use; genuine ink.

I doubt I'll convince you otherwise, but inks aren't inks.

        • @bUrd:

and how much total did u spend for all those genuine ink?

The amount u spent could be used to buy new printer every few years…

At $40 for just 5 vs getting $40 for 20..

I know which I rather buy..

And also don't say you never got clogged from using genuine ink..
Try leaving the printer for many months..

All printers get clogged if u don't use it regularly, not cos of non genuine ink.

  • I missed the recent deals too, I just want something cheap that does duplex scanning so this looks good.

  • Unbelievable that I got this for AUD 53 during the HN sale, when they reduced the price to AUD 153 and Cannon gave me a cashback AUD 100, the bar code on the box read AUD249… :)

    • +1

You got the 2360, not this one, this one is 5360.

  • Had the 2360 for about 5 days now and having a lot of problem setting up the wireless printing on my pc to work. Using usb and my S3 works, but not my pc. Other than that, its good and fast

  • +1

bugger, I thought this was a laser multi printer.
    oh well, I'll keep waiting.

  • +1

Thanks for posting the deal. Picked ours up yesterday for $133 this unit is awsome.

  • Found a gem of a printer today… Brother MFC-J4620DW

It has everything a multifunction needs, prints up to 1200x6000, and for a printer with a smaller footprint than my previous A4 Canon MG5560, it also prints A3! It has a touch screen LCD, full wireless, NFC for android and has duplex and auto document feeder. 4 separate cartridges at $20 a pop I think (cheaper if grey).

And being black and ivory, it doesn't look same same.

I think it's the perfect home printer!

On sale TODAY only at Dick Smith Online Only ($199 down to $147 + $50 cash back) - net price $97!!!
