In before the crying over Uplay…

Good game, good price, just buy it and enjoy it :)

Good point! I have absolutely no problem with Uplay or Origin for that matter. I don't see why I would deny myself awesome games (and potentially more bargains) just for a piece of software that sits on my PC and does nothing most of the time.

I have heaps of software I only use every now and again when I need it. Don't know why Uplay or Origin should be any different.

Gives me the feeling that it will be on humble bundle soon

      Might not ever happen tho.

  • It's certainly beautiful, and I'm quite a sucker for the rhyming couplets, but I don't really like that kind of non-action RPG. Thankfully I played the demo on Xbox 360 before buying it the first time it was on sale; not for me. Good game for many people, just be aware that the beautiful art might not be enough to overcome any issues you might have with the genre.

    • What issues were you having? Child of light is using turn base RPG as a homage to JRPG elements in the game. You must not be a fan of JRPG.

      • I just don't like the encounter system in that style JRPG. I like how you float around in the general game of CoL but then suddenly it's "combat mode" and you are restricted in movement and even the view. At least, that's how I remember it. I no longer have the 360 to try again.

Yeah, I guess I'm not a fan of RPGs generally (with a few exceptions like Diablo). My wife played through Lost Odyssey (a JRPG) on 360, and that was fine to watch, but I really don't want to play it myself.

        • Ah that make sense. Not really an issue but more of your personal preference. I thought it was some issue with the game that :P

  • I quite like this, the biggest thing it has going for it is the combat system where you and the enemies are pitted against each other on a bar with icons moving left to right. When you reach the end you attack, but you can use powers or blocks to interrupt, heal, or do other things. It seems weird at first but it's strangely addictive, especially when you are trying to time your icon against some fast moving and tough enemies.

It also looks amazing. Core gameplay though, I found a little too samey. I'm an RPG fan, but more in the 1st or 3rd person. The skill trees are quite uninspiring to look at and hard to follow, and a couple of trophies that I should have got bugged out on me.
