Despite more than a generation passing of theories claiming videogames cause various maladies, usually criminal violence or death, so the theories are clearly not made up by nutters … and in the same generation crime rates amongst those of video playing ages plummeting - just as you might expect if someone started sitting on the couch all the time instead of leaving the house … despite all this …
I can't go on :D, just read this idiocy: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/10/un-agency-backtracks-e…
The nutters truly are running the show and saving the children is ruining lives. I mean the lives of ordinary people who just want to have freedom of expression and entertainment of course, the children are just out committing … uh, sitting on the couch I mean, playing games.
You don't tend to combine your gaming with smoking weed do you?
I don't really know where I stand on this one. I play games on my iPad, but they are usually puzzle games rather than RPGs. I enjoy "Good Game", but I'm not keen on the really violent games; I like the strategy, just not the gore. Gut feeling is that disturbed people playing these sort of games may be desensitized to empathy with others; but does that mean they should be banned? I do think the ones that are have a juxtaposition of sex and violence should be banned; women cop enough crap as it is. I also think rating games and restricting access is a good idea; however, like all prohibition activities it is hard to police.
BTW - I think kids sitting on the couch all day is a bad idea; but then I'm not likely to be around when the medical bills come in on this one, i.e. obesity related issues, diabetes, etc.
