110
  • Mr Porter $1 = 8 points
  • Rebel $1 = 8 points
  • Kathmandu $1 = 6 points
  • David Jones $1 = 5 points*
  • Apple Store $1 = 4 points
  • The Iconic $1 = 4 points*
  • Wiggle $1 = 4 points
  • Lorna Jane $1 = 4 points

Finishes up 11th October. Yes, cashback is usually much better. But this can be handy for people collecting points for upgrades etc, which are pretty cost effective.

*means they're not part of the promo, I just listed them because the base earn rate is pretty good anyway.

enjoy

  • So is this like cashrewards, except the rewards is in QFF points?

Also, is there any other cash back site for the apple store?

i wonder if these won't pay out like cashrewards as well?

meh, who cares, qantas points are worthless now anyway.

      • Qantas points worthless? It's like pointing out that all rewards points are useless…

I can get a return Japan trip for 57600 points via qantas points.

        • "can", being the operative word there. whether you will, is another question altogether.

        • @insular:

          I haven't purchase yet, that's why 'can'.

        • +1

          Both of you are correct.
QFF is useless/worthless if you need to collect and accumulate point by point, and a few thousands points won't get you much.

But most people these days are getting points through applying a new Credit Card and get 40000+ points in one go, then that amount of points is useful indeed.

Worthless? I'm about to go on a round the world trip in business class - booked using 280k qantas (amassed over 2-3 years) points and only costing $900 in taxes. Like many things, it depends how you use them!

        • -1

i've got 330k+ but if i want to do a business class 'upgrade', best points per dollar value, i cant. unless i book more expensive economy fares, and with bronze, there's no guarantee of getting that upgrade anyway. so i've just wasted several hundred on the same seat in a higher booking class.

booking flights with them entirely, paying taxes etc. makes the value extremely low.

2-3 years to save for one business class trip? all that scrimping and saving and swiping at the registers, signing up to credit cards for bonuses, cancelling etc. for ONE trip. a few meagre flights. then you're back in economy again for the next trip.

used to be 110k for a EU return, then i checked again recently, easily +30-40k points. constant inflation, fewer rewards seats etc. you can't be flexible.

qantas is still the international airline that doesn't fly anywhere. it's all codeshare now for half the world. oh, at half the points earning, or none at all.

          WORTHLESS IMO

          I'll take your points…

        • @insular: In addition to upgrades, QF points can easily be used to book AWARD flights, with PARTNER airlines (many of which operate on a very low fuel fine surcharge structure). Given this, I'm not sure your reasoning for deeming the points 'worthless' makes much sense.

The points for my Oneworld Classic Award (which includes a total of 14 sectors in business class across five continents spanning a total of 8 months) came from a combination of flying and a few credit card and wine deals - I don't waste my time with smallfry offerings like Everyday Rewards. Hardly lots of scrimping and swiping. And with some careful planning regarding start and end destinations, I've structured my RTW flight to provide me with 2 x trips within the 12 month allowable period with the one booking.

Having said that, sounds like you'll enjoy your Coles or DJ rewards cards when you get around to redeeming your points!

        • @insular:

I am happy to get your 330K points if you finding it useless…much appreciated.

        • @insular:

worthless to you, not to others.

As an example, yesterday I need to book CBR->MEL next week. Saver fare quoted $260 or 8,000 points + $46. Equates to 2.7c per point

        • @adelee: don't they cost more points than they would with qantas? some partner airlines of qantas aren't that good btw ;)

yep, if you're already flying with qantas, the points will rack up. as will your status, but this holds true for any airline, many of which are far better than qantas in terms of customer service and points redeeming.

yep, RTW can be good, but that's a lot of points for one booking. i'd prefer to book an economy RTW and do business class upgrades with points. but that's damn impossible now.

        • @insular: Not at all. Along with BA (a partner airline I avoid), Qantas is one of the worst airlines for fuel fines. Cathay Pacific, which has an excellent business offering, charges less than half of the taxes than Qantas. I recently flew direct with Cathay ADL-HKG in business for $170 taxes return. Qantas was over $400, and of course, required a connection.

Of course some partner airlines of Qantas aren't great (but is there any air alliance made up of only 5 star rating airlines?) - but many are, and you can book seats with them on the Qantas website using your points.

I'm not sure why I'm pushing this point though, few people seem to book partner airline flights, which leaves more availability for those of o us who do!

        • -1

@adelee: yep, but that's not available for everyone and is highly dependant on timing and how far in advance you book. and some searches just now show me that redeeming (even codeshare) is as ridiculous as the last time i checked. business on adl-hkg return wasn't even showing up for me on most of my searches. availability varies greatly.

i believe it's usually better to book on partner airlines directly, for maximum point earning on ones you frequent. and it's usually cheaper too.

i only have qantas points from flying on flights i didn't pay for. but when i pay, i'd rather fly more direct and save the cash (eg. my upcoming flight adl-sin-bkk vs adl-syd-bkk, 3 hours less with sia). the points equivalent for economy on this was ridiculous. 120k.

there's also the lack of flexibility in booking with points. if you cancel you don't get them back, or can't change easily (or cheaply?).

and @ChickenTalon, 2.7c is on the low end, business class upgrades from economy were much better value in points per dollar (around double).

this is all fine if you fly qantas regularly, and have status, otherwise the points have been considerably devalued over the years for numerous reasons, other programs from other airlines seem like a better option now. not to mention the service.

but of course everyone chases that permanent gold, which is damn hard to get now anyway. decades perhaps?

        • @insular:
          Why impossible? Genuine question

    Thanks for posting.

Need to buy from Wiggle and didn't know they were part QFF! Points are now an added bonus for me!

    • I need to buy from Wiggle as well, but from the 4-color Kids Wiggle one. I don't think they are part of this promotion,
unless the "Red Wiggle" is willing to wear the "Red Qantas" shirt instead.
