$124 extra for W7 HP which sorta negates the "bargain" doesn't it?
Unless you own a previous retail edition of Windows, bought a family pack for W7, have Technet/MSDN access.
Agreed, it's a pain, but it's still a good deal for those with spare licenses (I have 3 spare retail Vista licenses, for example).
Just a note about how good Technet is, I saw it posted on Ozbargain and was "umming and urring" about it for a few months, but since I've purchased a subscription I've had a great time fiddling around with different computers, notebooks, netbooks, operating systems, programs I otherwise wouldn't have had an opportunity to legitimately tinker with.
Agreed - it's a fantastic way for any enthusiast to buy their software. Very cost effective. You get to try out all the newest pieces of software for the duration of your subscription for a flat fee. Now is a great time to have it with W7 out and O2K10 coming soon.
