Hi all,
I work full time as a mortgage broker however have a friend who is a fellow mortgage broker and is going away overseas for a week. During his week away, he has asked me to look after his business while I am still working full time. He understands I will not be able to dedicate 100% of my time to it, but will do anything that is needed.
My question is what is the appropriate remuneration for this type of work?

I like this - so long as you can trust your friend to do the righty when his time comes up.
Problem is when I go on leave I have a team whom I work with and will look over mine. Thinking of a per hour arrangement. It will be a lot of work.
Depends how close you are with him. True friend wouldn't mind to help out for free ;)

Who would be responsible for any advice you give on his behalf? Your business or his business?

Would not be providing advice, simply assisting existing clients.

Do it for a dinner when he gets back. It's only a week. Do what needs to be done and tell the rest that it will be processed when buddy gets back. I am assuming it is only a few hours over the week.
Put it in the holiday bank and get him to look after your clients while you take a week off? Seems only fair.
