  • Oh man, just bought the charge from dicksmith through ebay yesterday for $101 :(

    • +3

In this case, you snooze you win? Heh.

      • Haha it's almost always the case with ozbargain

      • +2

In this case didn't he/she actually lose? The Charge HR for $10 more than the Charge is a fantastic price.

        • Yeah, moo is saying had i snoozed i would have won…being on point in this case made me worse off :(

        • +1

The HR is thicker and its battery dies faster but yeah, totally worth it.

    • i paid 148 a not even a week ago :(

      • Oh wow, okay now in comparison my whining sounds petty :p

    • If you haven't already collected and used the Fitbit Charge. Just cancel the order or return it to DS. Then place an order for the HR :) I actually did this, but i placed the original order with The Good Guys.

      • +1

Unfortunately, already started using it :( glad you were able to do so though

Fully just got small slate charge for wife on the 30 code for $83. Stoked. Patience paid off…

    • Fully? i'm really intrigued at your use of the word to start a sentence… loll

      • I think sillyhead mean't to say "Fully sick,"

        • i assumed that… but thought maybe cuz i'm slowly becoming an old fart the phrase had morphed to just Fully and you can start sentences with it… hehehe

  • Great price! Paid $130 myself which at the time was dirt cheap. Retail was 199 and lowest at the time was 159.

Might get one for myself now…

  • Damn. Have bought $150 worth of DS gift card @Coles last week.
and have no use for it now.

  • +1

Bare in mind that this only applies to the black.I would have bought the hr if it was in purple for this price.

    • Can't believe the Plum is $40 more! Car-azy.

    • +1

could a man pull off that purple look?

      • Yeah it's a tough gig. Was worried that wife would get over it and I'd start using it. Thankfully she's happy with the slate one…

      • +1

Actually I have some touch boots that are acentuated with the same purple colours. Classic ozbargain the mens version were $160 the womens were $55 on clearance. I'm so cheep I'd play in a bikini to save $105!!!

Having said that it made sure I was running backwards in defence would never turn. Could never face the idea of the opponents seeing my shoes side on.

    • black so much better. goes with everything

  • Get another $2.78 via cash back from cashrewards

  • Someone just bought 22 of them. But thanks OP.

Edit: For anyone who has one/buying one, is the Large a pretty standard size? How accurate is their sizing guide PDF?

    • I bought the small version

    • +1

Don't get the small one. I've got chicken bone wrists and small was too small for me.

      • agree! i also like to wear it loose for sleeping. my skin irritates if i wear it tight.

the best function is the workout. steps was fun for the first few mths but now i mostly use it for workouts.

  • unless you've got extremely petite hands get the large.

  • What's better this or the Pebble watch?

    • Really depends on what you're wanting to do.
They're totally different really. The Pebble is a smartwatch, with very limited health tracking functionality, while the Fitbit is all about health tracking, with a heart rate monitor an all, and gives you next to no smartwatch functionality.

      • Thanks, just really wanted something to track steps. Was looking into the fitbit, which at $111 is a great price. Then I saw the Pebble watch which I'm assuming capable of tracking steps too.

      • So, what's good about fitbit? Heartrate and steps, these two are what all those products do.

    • the great thing abt fitbit is that it has all the useful features and it's popular. i have a lot of friends on fotbit so we do challenges constantly and it does encourage each other n bring out your competitive side. i have gone for a runat 11:30pm just to try n win a challenge.

  • Have heard the heart rate tracking can be quite hit and miss with these sorts on-wrist trackers. Anyone have some real world experience at the gym with this model? Seems like you'd need to be quite still for it to get a decent reading, etc.

    • +1

It has it's moments, at times it can be dead accurate (I also use a heart rate strap) but at other times, it's way off.

To be honest, it works well for me in most cases, but it's I guess one of those things, where I personally wouldn't count on 100%.

Probably just gave the worst answer lol, it works well MOST of the times (gym included).

    • its not 100% but im happy with it. if i track an hr of workout it will graph my heart rate and you can tell the build up, interval, peak etc pretty accurate. I love it. My fitness level has increased considerably. 5 mths ago my max was 150bpm now i can hit peak at 180bpm. in 1 hr it will tell me how many mins at peak, cardio, fat burn.

It was $149 before the sale…but still a good deal but why are they always trying to screw customers?

    • +2

It's pretty far reaching to say they are 'trying to screw customers'.

Obviously they buy products for a certain amount and have to make budgets and have some margins. Not all prices were raised, but perhaps some needed a slight bump (in this case $10) to be able for it to be viable for a shopwide 30% off. Would everyone prefer the 30% off the cheaper price? Sure. They could have otherwise done 30% off -excluding fitbits and in that case no-one wins.

TLDR: They are still a business and you can't expect them to take a loss. Don't sook about a discount.

      • +1

Isn't it an eBay promo though? Although I bet DSE and eBay have come to some sort of arrangement (e.g. eBay coughs up 15%, DSE the other 15%)

      • +1

I respectfully don't agree with you.

Better keep the price the same and offer a lower discount. Or if it is not profitable then don't offer a discount.

What is the point of putting the price up prior to a promotion and then offer a discount after that? That is fooling customers.

The effective discount on this item is more like 24% due to the increase and not the advertised 30%.

Note that I +1 this post but I don't agree with those tactics. If 30% is too high then make it 20% but don't increase the prices to make your discounts look better.

  • If only you could get an XL for this price. AFAIK the only way to get an XL at the moment if from the fitbit website, i.e. $199 + postage.

ordered yesterday around 4PM and it arrived this morning on my doorstep at 8:45AM. damn quick.

    • +1

I picked mine up this morning. The heart rate is pretty cool. Happy.

  • Would officeworks further beat this price?

  • Oy friggin' vey. "We're sorry, we can't ship your order to the address shown on the previous page. We can ship to the address shown below, or you can click Change to choose a different address." Can they please stop saying it's instock when it's not? I've gone through several stores too and it keeps happening.
