I need to find the best way to acquire around 15-20GB of data, I have a zte MF823.
Buying directly from Telstra the price is $140 for 16GB, which I have budgeted for but I was wondering if there is a way to get this cheaper? This is only going to be used on the weekend as I'm streaming a live event via YouTube.

i'd imagine that there might possibly be a no contract data plan you can sign up for, and cancel once your event is finish.
assuming its a short event (like couple of days max), you might only be up for the pro rata amount of the plan, where you get the full allocation of data. (example: you sign up for a $200/20GB plan or something, im not sure what telstra offers, keep it for a weekend, so 2 days, then terminate it. the cost i'd imagine you'd be up for is $200 * (2/30) = $13.33.
hopefully someone from telstra can confirm this.
Have you already got a Telstra phone plan?
If you do, you can activate "Extra Data" on your phone and tether. It's $10 extra per GB once you go over your phone plan's included allowance. Yes, 16GB will cost $160, but in the event you don't use all 16GB, you only end up paying for what you use on the day.
Originally, I was thinking that you could possibly have a look at the resellers that use the Telstra network (like Boost), but they only access the Telstra 3G network. Youtube Live recommends a minimum speed of 1Mbps+, so 4G data speeds will required.
BTW Boost is 4G now
