Office 2016 Mac perpetual licenses have been released and I was looking for the Home and Business version (which also includes Outlook). The Microsoft RRP is $299 and price starts at around $236 on Static Ice except for JB Hi-Fi that has it at $179. Upon closer inspection, I see that they have both the Home and Student as well as Home and Business editions listed at $179, so I'm assuming the latter is a pricing error. I've already purchased mine and received my license over the weekend.
I prefer perpetual licenses with the product lifecycle at around 4 years and at this price, you're ahead of the game versus Office 365 in less than two years (granted, you do get some extras with the subscription, but they are irrelevant to me).
Note that your purchase is not confirmed until you receive your license and it is limited to 1 per person (I tried ordering copies for all the computers in the office and JB Hi-Fi subsequently cancelled them all expect my initial order). According to the customer support team, they "…are not allowed to sell this item in a commercial quantity."
Be quick!
I'm holding out until the Professional Plus version is released in early October under the Home Use Program….similar to this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/124399
