Need Suggestions for Mattress and Bed Frames Pls

Hello Everyone, I am currently looking for a Queen bed frame plus a mattress. I had been 4 hours searching locally and it's been crazy.

Either the mattress is not too firm or soft to my liking
Or the price is too high..

Tried bed shed, relax, Harvey norman and fantastic furniture. My budget is around $400 for a mattress and $200 for a good base.

Can anyone suggest me something Its urgent pls.

1) Most of the Mattress in the range of $400- $450 were good enough. Do u think Imported mattresses are better or worse than AUS made ones? Please give me your inputs.
2) Has anyone used king slumber mattresses before?
3) Bedshed sure says that they have 5-year warranty, has anyone got any problems or issues with them? What problems can one get with bed, that is covered in the warranty?

I already have a base, I am unsure whether I should use it or get a new one, I think our existing bed has got bed bugs, do u think the base would have been damaged too. It's a metallic and wooden base.

I know it's a long one.

TLDR: Need suggestions as to where the mattress and base, does high-end mattress really help?

Thanks

    • thx :)

    • Are pillow top mattresses better or are they high maintenance? I mean like this one - http://www.bedworks.com.au/mattresses/mattresses-by-feel/gen…

We bought one of the Ergoflex ones, which is a memory foam mattress. We like it, but it does take a bit of time for it to mould to your body and it can be warm. I was getting back aches off it originally and it does have a chemical smell for a while. We went through the gamut of different beds and ended up with this one. You also might want to consider the logistics of getting the bed into the bedroom, e.g. if you on the second floor in which case a base you can assemble might be better.

        • Thanks for ur opinion. yes we do have 2 storey place

Be careful with the productreview site. It may make you more confused! I understand your frustration OP. Searching for a bed that you think will last and be comfortable in is time consuming and seems all a gamble anyway.

If you are getting stuck, just go for max warranty with best price.

    To your questions:
    1. Only better in that you are supporting Aussie made.
    2. No
    3. I think the main issue with mattresses is that they can sag. My locally made mattress had a 5 year warranty which covered this. You need to rotate though.

If the base is in good nic, sure just use that.

Asking people here might get the OP confused as well. People will always have a different opinion on products so getting a number of people's opinion, hopefully, gives an overall impression.

  • thanks people

  • The other thing to keep in mind is what sort of sheets you use, some of the higher mattresses won't work for a standard fitted sheet at the bottom, but would be fine for flat sheets.

Whatever you get, see if you can get a return period in case it just doesn't work for you.

I've bought my last 3 mattresses from http://www.chiropedic.net.au totally untried. They were all under $500. Maybe I've been lucky but the staff there are very helpful and helped me choose. It's an Aussie business in VIC but freight to WA may make it uneconomic for you.

If you have bedbugs get rid of the wooden base as well as the mattress.

Maybe try a futon base. They're much cheaper and more manoeuvrable and provide good airflow around the mattress.

    • thx all :) Checked chiropedic, yes the price is good. but they don't accept deliveries to WA :(

  • With beds, you need to consider comfort and you can only do this by lying on the bed. A good bed is something I'll spend serious $$$ on. I bougth one a few months ago and it cost $2K but it is an amazing bed. Considering you spend about 1/3 of your life on it, you should consider spending a bit more.

If $400 is really your budget, have a look at Making Matresses. We bought a cheapy for our spare room from them and people seemed to find it fairly comfy, but it wasn't used all that often and the problem with spring beds is they quickly change shape.

    • Thanks for ur comment i will have a look @ it. :)
