TV Arm: What to Look for?

Hi all, I'm wanting to buy a TV arm for my bedroom TV, but I've never even looked into buying one of these so I have no clue on what to buy.

I need a TV arm because when I try to watch TV in my bedroom I just see a black screen when I try viewing the TV from below the screen. Looking at the TV from a high viewing angle is fine, but not from below.

I'd appreciate any help!

  • Consider where you are going to mount it and what is behind the wall that you're fixing it to (e.g. is there studs in the right place/concrete/brick etc) - The load of the TV is increasingly multiplied the further the arm comes off the wall, so you'll want some heavy duty fasteners to make sure it is safe. If you are comfortable with this, it is a job that may be worth paying for if it's a larger TV/longer arm.

Also work out if you want the TV to stay in one spot, or do you want to be able to "pack it up" and push it back up and away to free up space when not using it. Some arms are better than others if you want to constantly move and adjust.

  • Size?

  • Do you also want the TV to move side to side? Or just tilt up and down?

  • I want an arm that'll allow me to move the TV side to side and up and down.

What's to prevent the TV arm from falling out of the wall in a few years time?

    • Nothing but the quality of your nuts and bolts that attach the arm to the wall.
