Is projector some new slang I'm not aware of.
get with the times
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_van_speaker_scam
Which times would those be, the 1970s? That grift has been going on for decades..
Never once experienced this, or heard of it occurring.
WHITE VAN?
Was interested but after a bit of googling, maybe not. Not so great reviews on whirlpool..
Yeh nah, got 1 last time and returned it…
Whirlpool thread on it here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2334845
Wow! Whirlpool thread is damning. Looks like a bucket of crap.
passsssss
Grab one for the footy finals, then return it if you're not happy with the quality…..keep the receipt and box.
I can almost guarantee you'll return it about an hour after taking it out of the box. A projector that projects nothing? Yeah, that's a great buy!
I have a real projector, wouldn't bother with this. But may be an option if you just want to use it as a one off.
$299 for an once off projector? Can I come visit your island? :)
@soupiejr: I meant use it once for footy finals and return it to Aldi, as they have that generous 60 day return policy.
So what does the HD stand for?
Clearly it's not High Definition
Well technically it is. Doesn't have to be 1080p to be HD. That's Full HD if we want to go on marketing terms.
Good call
That's just marketing bs.
HD was never 720p, until the idiots in marketing decided it was.
the missus wants a projector to use as a sketching tool for her painting hobby.
ie. project an image onto a canvas to trace before she paints it.
would this be ok for that ?
Is she painting in a dungeon?
Well that's where I keep her. So yes…
Much cheaper options on eBay. Wouldn't need hd fit that.
The minimum should be full hd. This technology is at least 5 years old. No Deal.
You obviously don't know how much projectors cost do you?
I bought a BenQ projector 3 years ago, used 417 hours bulb and the Texas Instrument DMD chip died, common problem. I won't be buying BenQ again. Now I wonder how much I want to spend on a projector considering my last one died years before the bulb ever approached it's half life.
My BenQ projector is like um.. ok it's so old I don't know it's age (At least 12) and was used daily in an office. Still works.
Yours prob doesn't have the TI DMD chip? Tbh it's not really a BenQ fault but twice shy now
This is a good deal
A decent HD projector with LED is around $1000.
This is a perfect cheaper alternative.
which one have you tried? The $1000 one or the Aldi one?
60 day return, if no clauses then I'm happy to buy-n-try
The $1000 one. Epson EH-TW5200. It looks amazing.
But I have experience with many 1280x800 projectors and they look great for movies and games.
I would not be spending money between $300 and $800 on a projector, I would either get something like my epson, or the Aldi one. The reason being I don't think you will even notice a difference with a $600 projector and this Aldi projector.
What does "Japan spec" mean?
http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/epson-eh-tw5200-full…
I'm not sure, i got the Australian version.
Epson EB-U32 at videopro for $825 also. 1920x1200 res native and 3200 ANSI lumens.
@AmperSand: I was eyeing that one too
@clarky: i got it price matched at harvey norman, VERY good projector for the money.
@AmperSand: any feedback on how the wifi functions work? Or streaming from iOS or wifi hdd? Or can you plug hdd in and watch movies? I have Mac formatted Hdd with movies
@clarky: WIFI is pretty useless with it. You have to use an EPSON app and then you can really only project images or documents (ok for a business user), same with USB too. I generally use either a chromecast, WDTV, laptop or blu-ray player with it atm. Has been great for 4 player Mario Kart 8 on Wii U also. I have an LG PB60G that does USB movies flawlessly (its tiny and bought it for travel), I was surprised the EPSON although it has USB support didn't bother to include some form of movie playback. It is a cutdown/entry level model, if you are prepared to use it as just a projector there isn't much in the price range with the same level of brightness/resolution anywhere. And with lamp life at 10,000 hours in ECO mode (I wouldn't use any more than eco mode, I find eco mode even a little bright in a dark setting without blackened walls) you won't find a whole lot better.
@AmperSand: well that sux big time. If I'm going to spend any decent amount of money I want either hdd playback from Mac hdd or wifi connection from my seagate wireless drive. Thanks tons for your feedback!
Epson EB-U32 or BenQ 1070? Which is better?
looks like the type of projector you'd get offered by a dude selling speakers and a projector from his van in a shopping centre car park.
