Most Affordable Mobile Plan

Dear Ozbargainers,

I am looking for a mobile plan with decent smart phone. I use it mostly for local calls around 200 minutes and casual texter. I am looking at around 500mb or more.

Any contribution will be helpful

Many thanks,
MsOzbargain

Must have been typing my post as you posted yours bargainaus. I'm glad someone else has also suggested VAYA. They are really easy to deal with. And their power plan 18 could be the cheapest in Australia??

      • Cheapest for sure. I never had any problem with them, I also don't expect too high since I'm paying peanuts.

    Hi tradiesunited,

I'm with VAYA which uses the Optus 4G network. $18 per month gets you $650 in calls & 1.5GB of data. Just buy the phone that suits your needs at the best possible price. I got a great deal on a Samsung Note 4 from a deal posted on this site. The deal less GST refund (as we were going overseas) was only $615 for a phone with an RRP of $949. Over 3 years or 36 months this will work out to be in affect around $35 per month approximately (Phone cost/36 + $18 plan). You may wish to purchase a cheaper phone as there are some great deals posted on this site each week or perhaps the phone you have now still suits your needs.

Here's the link for VAYA: http://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Mobile&4Gsimonly&PowerPlan

Also just for September they have free delivery as well. Good luck!

  • I was going to recommend Telechoice, but I see their new plans are substantially poorer value than a month or so ago.

Beyond specifics, some very effusive recommendation contained in your comments, 'Thrifty One'.
I'm sure that you are following the thread, so I won't reply directly to you.

Beyond this thread, that effusive recommendation So disproportionately at odds with the experience of So Many in others, on both OzBargain and Whirlpool (readily searchable, OP - along with many thrifty-plan threads in the 'Mobile' section of OzBargain Forums).

I see that you've just signed-up, today, Thrifty One.
    Welcome to OzBargain!
    You're in QLD, I see.
Will be cold tonight, if you're in Brisbane.
    I hope you're wearing socks!

I'm pretty damn sure, that you already are.

Good pick up, but I am afraid you have been a bit obtuse with your reply.

Simply put my experience with Vaya was awful. I am so glad I moved on from their service,

Maybe getting a little desperate for replacement customers, if your assumption of ThriftyOne is correct. Pity they weren't so helpful when i was a customer

      • You understood my obtuse comment, so there is still hope in the world, Rocky. Yes.

General lousy forum/social media 'word-of-mouth', related, forced 'Live Connected' and 'deposit bastardry', and widely reported (not least on OzBargain) customer service grief, will likely end-up killing them altogether.

Many indications that it will have been richly deserved, at the point when it eventually happens.

  • Jeenee Mobile.
    Good price and excellent service.

  • TPG or Virgin Mobile maybe?

ThriftyOne is indeed almost certainly a Vaya/Live Connected employee.

This company should be shut down. They are deliberately cheating their clients and have been the subject of many ombudsmen inquiries.

DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY AT YOUR PERIL.

Refer to whirlpool, net,au under Mobil carriers for further details,

Amaysim is probably a good place to look for a plan.

iporter you are exactly the reason I usually don't join forum sites. I'm sure what you have assumed happens all of the time but I'm not an employee of VAYA and never have been. I'm actually in hospitality as a lot of people on the Gold Coast are. I only joined to help a fellow OZbargainer as I am so appreciative of the generosity of the many people here that post such great bargains.

Since receiving the daily newsletter I have picked up a really good deal on a Tab S for my 7YO son and Note 4's for my wife and myself. I really feel bad for those that have had trouble with VAYA but I have been with them for about 2 years now and can't complain. I would tell you that I signed my brother up with Yatango another great low cost telco (oops I just did) but you may accuse me of working for them also. His needs are different to mine. Always pick the plan that is best for you and the telco that provides it at the best price. Anyways thank you to those who unselfishly post the great deals on this site and good bye to the small mined few that spoil forums like this as this will be my last post. So say as you wish I won't be replying.

tradiesunited good luck in finding the phone deal that is best for you!

This is the site I found my plan on so hopefully it may help you in finding yours: http://www.whistleout.com.au/MobilePhones/SIM-Only-Mobile-Ph…

And iporter for the record I'm also not a whistleOut employee either.

  • Loads of negative feedback re vaya all over the place, per mb billing being the main issue that causes huge data overspend bills.

Just gone with boost, $20/month for 1gb. Extra 500mb every Sunday. Amazing customer service and very good data tracking. Telstra network is a plus, and they're upgrading to the 4g network this month.

      It's KB billing now.

  • Amaysim is probably a good place to look for a plan $29 UNL+2gb

    VAYA V3 $650+1.5gb

I got a whole bunch x12 recharges on Amaysim for the $49 UNL+5gb for around $20 recently. Just watch OZB

Whats coverage like where you use your mobile (home, work and traveling) on the 3 networks & do you travel or call outside OZ? Then we can help find you the best deal!

  • Vaya is your best option.

Their service is great, but customer service can be poor, sometimes it's good, but you can get someone who is training from overseas and not know what they're talking about or just hang up. However, they answer the phone pretty quick and I rarely have to deal with them.

You have nothing to lose really. Been with them for 2 years paying $17.95 from when I signed up for $650 + 1.5GB, $10 for an extra GB if you go over.

    Can't complain.
