Earlier this year bought some products from the so called best buy in australia online store. The item was for my mum as she is not computer savvy. I thought everything was ok with the items bought but recently found out that the wrong items were sent. My attempt to return items to the supplier and recoup my initial outlay fell on deaf ears at the supplier, I was told I would have to pay the costs to return the unopened item and that I would only receive a store credit, why would I want to deal with them again! I attempted to press the issue using the Dept Fair Trade but their attempt to convince the supplier they had an obligation considering they failed to supply me with item I ordered, also fell on deaf ears. My only course now is to spend more money on filing a complaint through the Consumer, trader and tenancy tribunal which is not viable as it would cost me more to do this than it cost to buy the item in the first place. What happened to the saying the customer is always right, I work in retail sales and if I sell the wrong item to a customer I replace it with the correct item, maybe I am a dying breed. So much for the site stating "We will supply to you the Products specified on your Order Confirmation" so buyer beware of the so called best buy australia online store!

Can you ask for a refund? Or do a chargeback on your credit card, then you don't have to deal with BB directly, your CC company will.

    • I asked BB for a refund but they only offer a store credit and only the cost of item not postage, even though they made the mistake to start with. As for CC it has been too long since purchase to dispute charges.

  • Taking someone to the CTTT is $5 for uni students… i think it was double for the public? yeah its a time vs cost solution - you need to decide if its worth it and perhaps cut your losses. I did it with dell, it ended up being more about the battle with dell, rather than the actual item itself.

    • Cost for non students/non pensioners is $34 and then there is the onging cost to take it to a court house for a decision to be made. Definitely won't be buying from BB again. Poorest customer service I have ever had to deal with.

      • well you need to decide if its worth it. If you book it, it will cost you $34 + time. It will also cost them time + money to fight against you. Sorry to hear the store didnt help, but i spose you'll need to cut your losses and move on.

        • You write you did it with Dell, was it worth it and can you recall the cost to take it to court? I might just do it to make them pay for their mistake but I can't spend $1000 to do so.

  • you said earlier this year which is only 11 days /. so I presuime you mean 2009
If you paid by credit card you have 2 mths to dispute it. I am sure you have the paperwork for the original order if so then they will fight it out with the company you delt with.
I am reading that it is longer than 2 mths

    • Yes, they were purchased in March 09 and were dvd R not dvd rw so it wasn,t until recently that mum tried to re-record over the disks to find out there were not re-recordable.

      • sent you an email. sorry about it being quick. I have to go but i'll be on later. Yay long hours in the mines :)
