Free Avatar Screenplay (Entire 152 Pages)

335

Who's up for some light reading? Fox has released James Cameron's ENTIRE Avatar screenplay for download.

Stumbled upon this after browsing the interwebs…I'm pretty sure it's legit as it is being hosted on a lot of high profile movie sites.

Who knows why you'd read through 152 pages of it…but hey, it's free right!

Selma: What are you working on now?
Troy McClure: I've been reading a lot of scripts lately. You know, it's a lot cheaper than going to the movies.

  • After seeing the movie you can kinda tell the script wasn't where all the money invested went…

  • I haven't seen Avatar yet, would this have any spoilers?

      Urm, it's the script…

      • +1

        Urm, me thinks he's trolling…..

    • yes it would, story is pretty obvious although as Timski says the special effects are where the money went and what i enjoyed most.

      Question of the week…

    • Antman76 ;)

    • Nah there are no spoilers. You're good to go.

haha has anyone seen the email going around of the plot of pocahontis crossed out with the names of avatar characters scribbled in? LOL

How is this a bargain? Wouldn't it be better off posted somewhere like digg?

  • -2

    Not really a 'discounted bargain'.

    • +1

Who said it has to be a discounted bargain?

      • oz"bargain"

        • +2

you missed the key word discounted.

Its effectvely a free eBook which is a bargain, just cause you dont like it doesnt mean its not a deal.

  • -2

Not a bargain. how about I just post up every free thing you can get on the net.?

  • -2

Maybe if they paid us to read it it might be a bargain, but ass it stands it isn't really even a freebie, let alone a bargain.

    • +1

So what's your definition of a freebie?

      • Something that you actually want and would normally have to pay for, but you get for free.

So are you telling me you would pay actual money for this?

        • +3

Haha so many haters. But hey it's a free country. In my defense, ppl do pay for screenplays online… they're not normally free. And I thought this was interesting enough seeing a it's a current movie and all.

          • -4

@stonedewok: For interesting things on the net, try submitting to digg etc instead :-)

  • +3

Ps. Neg votes are a normal part of this site fair enough, but u don't have to be a bunch of dicks about it lol.

    • Yeah I agree, you got any other script? ie Spiderman 4 ;)

Avatar is gonna make 2 billions by the end of its run!! I would like a little nibble slice of those :)

  • Company's / theater groups that put on productions usually pay a lot for scripts and screenplays.
This is a 'freebie' to anyone that has anything to do with the performing arts.
If you don't have an interest in it, doesn't mean that someone else won't.
I didn't post in the beef jerky threads - and i can't stand the stuff.

  • Yeah why not? Loved the movie and I'd read the script for sure. I get what people are saying about dig being more appropriate, but hey. Avatar is awesome.

  • +3

Just because it hasn't been available for purchase yet doesn't mean it's not a bargain. For all those people who think a free script isn't a bargain I'd like to draw your attention to this item: http://www.amazon.com/Stargate-SG-1-Essential-Sharon-Gosling…

-> a book of scripts from Stargate available for purchase (of which I own). Now, I wouldn't buy the script for Avatar but the very fact that studios can and do sell movie scripts as merchandise does indeed make this a bargain. For any film school student out there I'd be grabbing this: note to self, how do you make money? -> re-tell a great old story in a new hip setting.

    • interesting last point there!
I suppose original story telling has slowly died or been endlessly rehashed since the glory days of Kurosawa?
To think of what Avatar could've been if the screenplay was given a treatment by someone like Charlie Kaufman or Joss Whedon…the mind boggles!

      • If JW did it i may even have some desire to see it and it would be awesome, however i bet that it wouldn't do very well, cause FOX would have screwed it just like everything else they screwed of his.

      • Uh, Josh whedon sure, but Charlie kauffman? Avatar?

        • yeah i'll admit Kaufman is way out left field…but i'm a huge fan regardless…
i guess i was getting at the point that any talented writer could've improved on JC's version.

cool, thanks for the input guys.

i knew ozbargain was still made up of good sports!

    Noone's mentioned page 90 yet.

    SEE PAGE 90.

    • ummmm…the infamous "sex scene"?

it was kind of implied in the movie anyway…so I don't see the big deal Dazzer?
