How long to deliver? 2 months like the last offer?

    • 3-4 weeks

  • Still waiting for 6 Plus 64G…

  • +9

Not bad, but I wouldn't go near a 16gb phone though. You'll be running out of space way too quick!

    • +5

Agree, you will be spending heaps of time on the phone deleting and freeing up space all the time.

Sort of defeats paying so much for a smart phone, when you are limited to installing just a few apps, and taking a very limited number of photos and videos

      • +1

I'd like to question the "16GB is too small" mantra that is repeated for any phone deals.

Is it because you have a huge music collection? Or do you use the camera often? Or do you download a lot of apps?

Part of the 16GB space is used for the OS, which sucks. How much space is available for the user?

        • +1

          around 11gb from memory

        • It really depends on how you use the phone. 16GB for me is too small, I don't have a huge collection of apps and a very small amount of music (<50 songs) but I do take a lot of photos (not selfies), so the space really eats away quickly.

32GB is perfect for me, but as that's phased out 64GB it is!

        • +1

If you use it for taking videos, that uses up a lot of memory. Photos are not too bad but depends on how many photos you intend to take. Apps/Games will vary as some takes a lot of space. 16GB is okay for the casual photo taker and for installing Apps which does not take too much space. But if you intend on using it for videos, take lots of pictures and install large Apps/Games, avoid it.

        • @j1568: Also will depend on whether you use iCloud to store the videos and photos. The local storage goes down substantially if you upload to the cloud and use the 'optimise local storage' option. Of course you then get stuck paying for iCloud storage since 5GB won't be enough.

Alternatively you can sync to a PC and remove the photos from the phone.

Both options may help as long as you aren't going on a big photo/filming session and don't have an opportunity to get the files off the phone.

        • For me camera. I might be able to cope with iPhone 6 because of 8mp camera. $689 is out of my budget for a phone.

        • I have a 16GB iPad and it's full from Apps. A lot of apps are 500mb+, and after you get a handful of them you're really pressed for size. I deleted all my music and photos to make space for games. I should probably delete the old FTP games that I never play any more like Simpsons tapped out haha.

        • @Smigit: I just use google photos for free

    • +1

16GB is like you're someone who only uses fewer than 10 apps, such as Facebook, snapchat, twitter, instagram, camera, email, safari, etc.

It can be filled up in months by just daily pics. Don't get 16GB unless you are an elderly who mostly make phone calls.

      • Hmm I have a 16gb Xperia z2 that's 12 months old with a 64gb sd card and I actually have nothing stored on the sd card. I have 30 apps or so hundreds of photos and some 1080p videos a few albums and I still have 4gb+ space on the phone. I personally don't feel that a 16gb phone is very restrictive

        • I fill my 32gb note 4 easily. I record video though. If i installed games and listen to music i would need more storage.

    • Yeah 16g at this day and age is too limited

    • Not true, with iCloud Apple devices store the original photos and videos on the cloud and leave a much smaller copy on the phone. My 16GB iPhone 4S went from running out of space to plenty now.

    • thats the reason why 16gb version is on sale more often(than 64gb or 128gb)

  • It's a good deal, but I just can't go with 16GB of storage, especially when a few GB of that is taken up with the OS and compulsory apps.

  • Don't see the post in Mobile section.

  • Just bought one. ETA is October 14th

    Thank you…

    is it pink?
    i mean rose gold?

    • +1

No, just normal gold. This is 6, not 6s.

  • It's Kogan. Bad reviews. No warranty and a Grey import. Spend your money better.

    • +4

And youll probably get it by chrismas

      1. Price
      2. Bad Reviews
      3. No Warranty (Kogan Warranty - for what ever it is).
      4. Grey Import (All iPhones are made in China)

For a few dollar difference "1. Price" can be overruled.. but in this case, may be not!

      • +1

Don't forget the resell value for a phone which still has Aus Warranty (2 years statutory where sold in Aus) is much much more valuable to a 2nd hand buyer so its worth paying the extra amount so that if you sell the phone in a year or so just for the extra resell value.

        • +1

Resale value is potential benefit..(only if you want to sell) - let say you dropped it in 2 weeks, there goes the potential.

discount upfront is money in your pocket now..

        • +1

You could drop any phone plus you could get insurance OR pay Apple to replace it for like 300$ if its aus stock where as Kogan grey import ur lost.

        • @Gavman: I agree, if you plan to drop it, you should pay more for the phone and the additional insurance.. for me I'll take the cash now and be careful.

        • -1

LoL or get a stupid proof cover and shatter glass screen protector and Just don't drop it off the edge of a cliff

        1. Less than when eBay has 20% off w/ Kogan.
        2. Using that and no problem.
        3. Apple still offer 1 year international warranty AFAIK.
        4. If a non-iPhone which not made in China, will you buy that?
        • +1

Apple still offer 1 year international warranty AFAIK.

Not on iPhones or iPads with cellular capability.
Also, these have no two year Consumer Guarantee.

        • @A3Australia:
I had my french bought 4G ipad replaced through the apple store here. showed them the receipt no drama at all

        • @sonicentropy:

I had my french bought 4G ipad replaced through the apple store here. showed them the receipt no drama at all

You should not have needed a receipt. As the warranty is checked via the serial number.

As I said in a longer comment. "In some cases Apple Australia can assist with repairs/replacements, but this is not guaranteed and replacement can take much longer than for AU/NZ market models."

        • -1

Apple will validate the 1 year limited warranty.
You will not receive consumer law however.

        • @Jakiejake:

They may or may not. Kogan would be the one handling your warranty, which if Apple Australia won't accept it, they would end up returning it to Apple Hong Kong.

        • -1

@ozhunter: Apple will within the 1 year standard.

        • @Jakiejake:

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

          http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/ios-warranty-re…

The bold and capitalized font for emphasis is the way Apple stated it.

Notice that this statement doesn't appear on its macbook range as iphones and ipads have cellular models which is likely the ones that Apple would refuse to replace, as they can't just resell it as refurbished here. That's my guess why there is no guarantee to replace it.

        • -1

          @Jakiejake:

Apple will validate the 1 year limited warranty.

Huh? What do you mean? Please explain. Are you saying that Apple USA or Apple HK will confirm that the phone is covered in their market area? Certainly Apple Australia will not confirm that a privately imported HK or USA market iPhone will be supported for warranty, and for out of warranty, claims in Australia. It MAY BE, but this is not guaranteed.

You will not receive consumer law however.

Do you mean the Consumer Guarantee? If so, yes that is obviously correct. As one would be buying from a Hong Kong seller and privately importing the phone.

        • -1

          @A3Australia:
I mean that Apple Australia will repair phones due to faulty workmanship during their 1 year warranty no matter where purchased.

I'm not going to debate my comment anymore. However even with the warranty being validated here I'd still recommend not buying a gray import and just buying local stock, with consumer law it works out better in the long run.

Also thanks for the neg whoever gave me that.

        • @Jakiejake:

I mean that Apple Australia will repair phones due to faulty workmanship during their 1 year warranty no matter where purchased.

So, you are claiming that Apple Australia will always honour warranty on iPhones first sold in Hong Kong or the USA? From where did you get that information? If not verbally, would you please provide a link to this information.

Also, you keep mentioning "warranty being validated" and "validate". Why? You do know that just going to the Apple website and checking if one's iPhone serial number results in validation of its warranty means nothing so far as Apple in Australia supporting that warranty?

        • +1

          @Jakiejake:

I'm not going to debate my comment anymore.

Okay, just make a statement which contradicts Apple's warranty policy. No evidence or anything, just make a statement and believe it is true. I think Apple would, in most cases repair the phone as long as they didn't have to replace the whole phone.

        • @A3Australia:

So, you are claiming that Apple Australia will always honour warranty on iPhones first sold in Hong Kong or the USA? From where did you get that information? If not verbally, would you please provide a link to this information.

I was speaking from verbal expeirence, but there's information here:

If the product is portable, meaning that it can operate independently without a power cord, you may obtain warranty service worldwide. However, service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested. If the product is not portable, warranty service may be restricted to the country where the product is purchased. Service options, parts availability and response times will vary according to country. You may be responsible for shipping and handling charges if the product cannot be serviced in the country it is in.

I'm not guaranteeing service however in 99% of scenarios this would be applicable.

Also, you keep mentioning "warranty being validated" and "validate". Why?
Might have not been the best word to use. I mean the warranty would be valid here as Apple treats it as a worldwide warranty and would "accept/support" it.

        • +1

          @Jakiejake:

That link does coincide with the one I posted. Apple may fix it.

        • @Jakiejake:

I was speaking from verbal expeirence, but there's information here

Ah, no. If you go to the Apple warranty information after selecting the relevant market (eg USA or Asia etc.) then clicking (selecting) iPhone you get the warning about the warranty being valid in the country of first sale. If you select other Apple products you get different warranty information. The global warranty does not apply for iPhones ans iPads with cellular capabilities.

Both ozhunter and myself have posted links to the relevant Apple warranty information. You have not.

        • @Jakiejake: It's Kogan. It doesn't matter if you have a warranty or not. Kogan don't honour their obligations under warranty so you would have to take it to Apple no matter what. Unless you want to fight them in court like I had to to. I had a 12 month warranty and to Kogan it meant nothing. You can't warn people enough.

It's Kogan [HK Limited]. It doesn't matter if you have a warranty or not. Kogan [HK Limited] don't honour their obligations under warranty so you would have to take it to Apple [Apple in Hong Kong?] no matter what. Unless you want to fight them in court like I had to to. I had a 12 month warranty and to Kogan [HK Limited] it meant nothing. You can't warn people enough.

I believe that you purchased an ASUS device from Kogan HK Limited and then imported it privately? Is that correct?

I can't understand how any Australian court or consumer organisation had any jurisdiction over a Hong Kong Company. Have you received any refund from Kogan HK Limited or from Kogan Australia Pty Limited?

  • Woooow, 37 bought in less than 20 minutes..

No time to think, If you want. Just go for it. 16 GB is not that bad if you have a computer ;)

  • +1

    Oh shit I forgot cashrewards…

  • Should I buy this or wait for the 6S?

    • +7

You won't be very popular among the apple fanboys if you have the older model

    • +4

Depends, I frankly think 2GB RAM and 3D Touch would make this phone more up to date with the newer models that'd come out later.
I know some people will go, iPhones do fine with 1GB RAM, but more RAM wouldn't be a bad idea, wouldn't it not?
Besides, I think iPad Mini 4 and all the new generation iOS devices have at least 2GB RAM (at least on benchmarks leaked and such).

That said, with crappy USD AUD exchange rate and 6s being a new phone, you'd not find a decent deal on it for awhile.

      • 2gb ram is that confirmed?

        • More or less, I think most benchmarks showed 2GB RAM.
This apparently matches what has been shown on the development tool, Xcode, as well.

        • @Oversimplified:

I agree, but around $400 more is something to consider. I guess im stuck with android. :)

        • +2

@Ronnnie: I think that $400 is slightly unfair since it's comparing the official price to a grey import price. Then again, you'd not be able to find 6s at a significantly cheaper price than that.

I think this iPhone will stay current for longer than 6 will. Apple rarely increases RAM.

        • +1

          @Oversimplified:
Yeah you're right comparing grey to local stock is unfair.

    • Well this is about $400 cheaper than the 16GB 6S.

    • +1

      I would wait for 7 !

      • +3

and its only 365 days away, more better and powerful than the 6S, probably will have 3d hologram

      • +2

        Bah 7S is the future!

    • Price vs Experience

    • I believe Apple has changed everything with the 6S, which sounds good.

      • Yup everything, including a new colour

  • +3

16gb & no aus warranty, why would you bother..

    • +3

AFAIK you can ask for aus warranty at apple within 12 months, but of course less than 24 months by law.

      • AFAIK you can ask for aus warranty at apple within 12 months, but of course less than 24 months by law.

However, you don't know. You never asked. Apple warrantee is for one year. One would need to take these phones back to the country of first sale. This MAY be Hong Kong, but could well be the USA or somewhere in Europe. My Kogan HK supplied iPhone was first sold in the United States of America.

Also, there is no Australian 24 months warrantee by law. It is an Australian Consumer Guarantee.

    • +2

too many of these posts.. there is warranty btw.. global warranty of 1 year. usually if it breaks after 1 year, it is fine.
You can google it. just need to prove it is your iphone when you register it.

      • too many of these posts.. there is warranty btw.. global warranty of 1 year. usually if it breaks after 1 year, it is fine.

No there is not. There is no global warranty for iPhones or for iPads with cellular capability. In some cases Apple Australia can assist with repairs/replacements, but this is not guaranteed and replacement can take much longer than for AU/NZ market models.

You can google it. just need to prove it is your iphone when you register it.

Yes, you can use Google search, but you need to read the Apple Warranty for iPhones and iPads with cellular capability.

        • oh.. well i've had one of my iphones fixed, case by case basis i guess? They gave me a whole new phone to replace it.
They have the ability to restrict though i guess it the bottom line.

        • @kickmiass:

From which market was your iPhone first sold? UK, HK, USA? You said "fixed". So that may have been a screen replacement?

        • @A3Australia:

You said "fixed". So that may have been a screen replacement?

I think kick got a new phone.

They gave me a whole new phone to replace it.

        • I think kick got a new phone.

Yes, thanks. I was on an iPhone. Even quoted that bit, but did not read it properly.

$240 reasons might be good enough for some, and hope Apple honours warranty - grey area I know
    But price difference is something

  • Waste of money, Now days these phones are a fashion.

    • +1

      People still buy regardless!

  • +1

I'm pretty sure these phones will not be Australian models and hence will have different LTE/4G spectrum bands.
This results with the phone not able to receive all the active LTE/4G frequencies in Australia.
It will still work on 4G but only on limited frequencies.
So don't be sad if you missed out.

iPhone 6 A1586 is the same model sold in HK as Australia.

      • +2

iPhone 6 A1586 is the same model sold in HK as Australia.

Are we sure that this is the model being supplied by Kogan?

Kogan HK sometimes supply phones from various markets. My 5s turned out to be a USA market model WITHOUT one of the 4G frequencies used in Australia. While a friends 5s from the same Kogan eBay sale was the HK market model WITH all 4G bands used in Australia.

  • +1

Wow what a bargain for a phone with 1gb ram ~720p display and less than 2000mah battery only $689!!! get on board people quick it's an apple!!!

    • +6

Funny how you say that. 800 Iphone sold in less than 8 hours while the LG phone at a cheaper price is struggling to sell 300 units over 48 hours.

      • +3

popular does not equal good value

        • Products are driven by the market demand not value.

      • +1

        :/ sheep……

      • The G4 is definitely not sexy, though. All the specs and camera are great but pick up the device in your hand and it definitely isn't sexy.

  • +1

Waiting for a good iPhone 6 Plus deal. Hopefully not too far away given imminent release of 6S/6S Plus..

    • +2

      I'm sure a 6 plus 16gb deal won't be too far away. :)

  • Why do Apple even sell 16GB? Stupid

    • +3

Because if they release 32GB one, people will buy 32GB one instead of 64GB one.

    • Why do Apple even sell 16GB? Stupid

I believe it is for the 'corporate' market.

  • +1

Just got a notification from Kogan that the phone is ready to ship. Wasn't expecting it so fast! Hopefully be here by next Friday.

  • Mine arrived yesterday with separate au charger. Didn't open it because I bought it as a gift. It is factory sealed and looks great, can someone please confirm which stock you got?

    Thank you..
