Anyone Had an Experience with Luxury Travel Vietnam?

Hi everyone-

I've made a previous post about my honeymoon to Vietnam in May 2016, and further to everyone's advice that the 11k we were quoted for our 16 day honeymoon was ridiculous, I got in contact with a company who is in Vietnam called Luxury Travel Vietnam, who have quoted $6880 for my partner and I for 5 star luxury accommodation including the following:

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi -Historical Wing Grand Luxury

Halong Bay Paradise - Luxury Deluxe

Hoi An The Nam Hai- One bedroom villa

Nha Trang Six Senses Ninh Van Bay - Beach Pool villa

Ho Chi Minh Park Hyatt Saigon - Hotel Park room

We do have other accommodation but those are just the top ones we have been quoted. Price also includes 2, over night cruises in Halong Bay, most breakfasts/ lunches/ dinners and around 15 different tours. Also all transfers to and from tours/ to and from the aiport, and 3 domestic flights within Vietnam.

Price does not include international flights

( If anyone has any advice on where to get cheap flights from Brisbane traveling in May next year that would be awesome! )

We have looked into booking it all separately, but we dont feel confident in organizing all of the travel and really have no clue about where the best places are to stay. Maybe our second or third trip we would consider booking it all ourselves when we know what its like.

So I've been taking advice from others and that was too book through an agent located in vietnam, and this is the price they have come up with. Still almost half the price of the agent here in Australia.

Let me know what you guys think :)

Thanks for all the help on my last post guys- It was seriously amazing and I appreciate it so much :)

Re flights from Brisbane - I would check flying from Coolangatta with either Scoot or Air Asia. Prices will generally be a lot cheaper than any "full service" airline from Brisbane.

Re Halong Bay - I would recommend doing a 2 night cruise. I'm not sure what the itinerary is for your cruise, but I did a 4-star cruise last year and they have many activities that you participate in. You only arrive on board about 1pm after the 3-hour drive from Hanoi, and leave around 10 the next morning. It leaves very little time to actually do very much. The 2-night cruise was ideal as they did let you have some down time in the afternoon. The people on my cruise doing the one night option had no time to relax at all!

To be honest, it still seems a bit expensive. You could probably save a bit, booking separately.

Also in May the weather could be very hot and humid especially if the wet has not arrived. Loose cotton clothing and aircon will be your friends.I always take a small hand fan to keep me cooler in buses and shops as that direct movement of air makes a difference. If you feel the heat you can also wear a wet bandana or scarf around the back of your neck. Avoid heat exhaustion. Drink lots of water.

We used Ha from Vietland Discovery in Danang to book our tour.
Perhaps you could see what she comes up with.

She took care of all the internal stuff for us.
She booked Halong Bay for us at a good price and also organised our local flights. When our international flight was changed she was very efficient in changing our flight to the new time and always kept us updated to changes
We met some Aussies at the airport who`d booked with Flight Centre and received no notification of changes whatsoever.
Transfers, guides, hotels, Halong Bay and internal flights all went smoothly.
We chose the 3 day 2 night cruise on Dragon Pearl and highly recommend the extra night to get one full day.
It carries I think 12 people and goes to a really deserted section of the Bay.
We also appreciated not getting transferred to a day boat while our boat took out day tourists.Liked having our cabin available the whole time.

I spent about $1.5K for 3 weeks on accomodation in Vietnam. That included 5 days at Intercontinential Nha Trang but mostly 4 star places. Some amazing places (2 star in Vietnam) for $30 a night but these places aren't 2 Star but 4 Star for AU.

My attitude is, if I'm staying in a resort I'll spend $$$ on a 5 star resort but if I'm sight seeing, I'll stay at a nice 4 star or so place as all I want is a clean room, some decent breaky and a comfy bed. So this this reason, Hanoi and Saigon were cheaper places. Hoi An I'd spend more on a nice resort though.

I'd also strongly recommending Hue over Nha Trang. Hue is the former imperial city. We hired a driver and tour guide for the day (cost about $120) to take us around and she was amazing, really explained the history and did it in a way which had meaning (started at the tomb of the second Emperor and moved forward in time from there. So you got an understanding of their Chinese heritage through to the French influences.
