Eh.. can't imagine 1080p looks great stretched across 32 inches when you sit right in front of it.

I'd rather have one of those Chinese 30' or even 27' displays that at least have 2560*1440 and IPS at this price

Can grab an IPS BenQ 27" 1440p for less. We have a couple at work and they look pretty damn great for the price. Nearly as good as the Apple Cinema 27" that we have on the same desk.

Probably the same LG IPS panel everyone uses heh. Glossy screens appear sharper, so explains why the Cinema/Thunderbolt displays look "better".

          Exactly.

There's a tiny bit of 'sparkle' effect that matte displays tend to have, but it's worlds better than what the sparkle effect used to be.

          http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1674033

In 2010 I needed (well.. really, really wanted) a 27" 1440p IPS and the Dell 27" was the only other option to buying a used 27" iMac. Both used that LG panel but one had a matte/anti glare finish and the other did not. The Dell was so bad that people went to extreme measures to get rid of the matte finish as in the above link.

I went with the iMac and still use it to this day as my primary monitor at home. It's great as it has no input lag (no scaler) on the mini diplay port in and I can use it at the same time as my gaming PC.

It also sips power, with the iMac around 50w when in sleep and displaying my main/gaming rig, and around 90w when doing simple Netflixing, youtubeing and the like.

In contrast my main rig alone is around 80w at idle without a screen.

    • indeed..
Not sure who this monitor is marketed at but I suggest it would be suitable for old people. Old people need larger monitors and can't resolve high resolution.

    • I use my old 32" sony 1080p tv as my monitor connected by hdmi and its truly awesome. Had it since '08 and still runnin smooth.

If/when i need a new monitor it will be another 32" sony.

    • hell yea!

nice monitor ruined by a shitty 2010 resolution
