Hi Guys, I am really confused these days. I have been working for a retail giant for the past 6 years. Started as a part time and once my studies were over i was offered a role in management. And then i have been doing that for almost 4 years now. There are days when I absolutely love it there but most of the days I just don't wanna be there. I think my saturation point has come. I am well and truly over working in retail, though I decent money and I pretty much run the whole store and I am second IC now. I am thinking about banking/finance. My background in studies is accounting/finance. It has been 5 years since I finished my Post grad so my degree is sort of redundant.
My question- is there any body who is in the same situation as me or have been? What options did you guys explore? Any short term courses out there that will help my case perhaps? Thanks in advance
Changing line of work.

kaplan is well respected among employers, what you need to know in Australia no ones gives a &$$ about prestige. Maybe investment banks will, but only US education would stand out.
Most entry level jobs in Banking/Finance are essentially sales gigs, you wouldn't be applying much of what you studied to begin with.
Later on when your career progresses then you may find yourself in a more analytic based position where you will make use of your skills.
To put it simply, most jobs in banking are retail, rather than selling a product, you are selling accounts/loans/insurances etc. Just with a lot more compliance and red tape in between.
If you are interested in finance, you could try working for a finance or insurance company in the sales team. Some companies will offer RG146 training once you have worked x amount of months for the company (usually, more than 8 months and your performance is good).
I remember interviewing for a insurance sales position and they mentioned offering RG146 compliance training within a year. I can't remember which company it was though.
Just… don't go anywhere near Kaplan. I think their reputation was tarnished a few years back when they stuffed up. Not sure what the general consensus is now amongst employers.
